I've heard Nigeria really has a discriminiating issue with the age of couples and immigration. I know the age usually is a factor when the man is much younger due to culture and child bearing traditions. But has anyone ever heard of CO's discriminating against mature couples both in their 40's? I have not seen any forum's on older couples and what they have faced during interview processes.

My husband and I are both 51 and we were still denied K-1 Visa so married 9-1-2011. Now going the I-130 route. The best advice is to read everything that you can on VJ about Nigeria and prepare accordingly.

Thanks AlexBa for your reply. I've tried to stress this over and over to my husband also. We have not been through a visa process at all. He is 40 and I'm 42. This is his first marriage and he has no children. I've been married before with three children.

This brings up another issue as well. We don't talk via the internet very much. We met that way, I invited him to be a friend on Facebook while marketing some nutritional supplements/weightloss products. I had no idea he was from Nigeria...I was just trying to sell products! As they say...the rest is history. Nigeria was the first international trip I had ever taken before and I did it all on my own...because I loved and trusted him with my life. We've taken our relationship very slow, we talk on the phone everyday...but that is just about the only way we communicate. We have lots of photos and phone records, but that's about it as far as communication. We both work long hours and have been on our jobs for 17 years...we dont' sit around on a computer or in internet cafe's all day. Never have...we have responsibilities. Will he have the chance to explain this during interview? Only if the CO allows it. And that's what I'm a little unnerved about!
