Received Packet 4 Today. :-) But, a few questions.

1) It looks like the don't need MY Original Divorce Decree or MY Birth Certificate?

2) It says they DON'T need CHINA - MAINLAND POLICE CERTIFICATE. It says in the P4 that they ALREADY got it directly???

3) It says Photographs already received. The ones I sent in the PDF were enough???

Inquiring minds want to know!!!!

They may not want to see the originals, but I would advise bringing them all with you at interview. That's what I am going to do. Give all the originals, package them in sequence, let my wife have them all, show when they ask -)

One more thing has me worried. The Visa Information at travel.stste.gov states that translations of documents need to be notarized. I'm not talking about white books, red books, etc., but I was under the impression that relationship related docs just needed to be translated by a competent translator with his/her signed statement and NOT notarized?

My experience is that those white books and such all ARE notarized, which they need (birth certificate, marriage, etc) notarized, however, you can provide your own translation for them (that's what we did for the marriage one). The birth certificate and police report probably could, too, but my wife's uncle got it for her, since he lives in her hometown. However, as far as the white books go, there are still some pages that need to be "officially" translated.

I'm sure you knew most if not all of that.

As far as everything else goes, what you thought is exactly what we did. Put at the bottom of every translated page something like I, ______, certify I am competent in both the English and Mandarin Chinese languages, and that the above translation is correct. Signed and dated. They accepted all of our stuff like that (except the police report and birth certificate that we never thought of doing ourselves).

As far as your birth certificate and divorce stuff, I sent my birth certificate way early, like in my very first mail to them to even get this started (not my original, I never sent them the original birth certificate). This is my first marriage, as well, so I didn't have any divorce proof to worry about, but I'm guessing that since China is more rigorous about marriage laws than the US, they won't ask for it. They never asked for my birth certificate during my wife's interview, or intake.

They may already have your photographs, but it's always better to bring them just in case, like said above.

And regarding your police report, I don't really know. They needed my wife's, didn't get it on their own. If you already sent it in, then you shouldn't need to bring one, unless yours will expire very soon (within a month would be my person cutoff for very soon. 6 weeks is fine, if they approve you then and there)

well, you did EP.

One of the requirements of EP is that everything submitted into NVC electronically?

Must to bring originals on document intake / interview day.

see http://guangzhou.usembassy-china.org.cn/iv_faqs.html#B4 and http://guangzhou.usembassy-china.org.cn/nvc_pilot_program_of_electronically_processing_visa_petitions.html

for further clarification.

Alas, the appointment letter you've received is the 'general' one - it not contain any instructions specific to EP at GUZ, at all.

Sometimes my language usage seems confusing - please feel free to 'read it twice', just in case !
Ya know, you can find the answer to your question with the advanced search tool, when using a PC? Ditch the handphone, come back later on a PC, and try again.
