Questions about case closed and leading up to interview

Hi,

I have submitted all (hopefully) documents for NVC to close the case and had a few questions.

1. What is exactly done at the medical exam? Should my stepdaughter start getting any vaccinations or anything in the meantime? She lives in Chengdu so we will head over to Guangzhou a little early? Are the results from the medical exam immediate or does it take a few days?

2. Her address is on the Supplemental form so I assume she will be receiving all the documentation? Do they also send it out to the petitioner (me)?

3. If her interview is June 1, how long after will she be able to leave China and come home with me? I want to have a general idea before purchasing airline tickets and also knowing how much vacation to request from work.

Thanks in advance!!!

2. there is no 'documentation' to come out, as you are doing EP. packet 4, the appointment letter, comes in via email.

3. 6 months usually, to transit into the usa, past the interview date. this can vary based on the medical exam results.

1. if she goes in , in the morning, is possible to get the results in the afternoon. this varies by medical facility.

Sometimes my language usage seems confusing - please feel free to 'read it twice', just in case !

1. My fiancee had her medical exam in Guangzhou clinic on Thursday prior to her Monday interview March 20 '12. Her results were ready right away. They did full female exam as well as normal physical exam with all labs. She will want to know when the date of her last period was and probably shouldn't eat after 9pm the night before for the labs. I'm not sure, but I think that my fiancee told me she had to go to another place for her vaccinations. She had about four of them including influenza, MMR, human papilloma virus (I believe), and also the 4-pronged TB test. There are costs for exam and vaccinations.

2. She picked up the results b/c she couldn't wait for the results to be sent to her. Chengdu is about 1,500 miles from Guangzhou, and flight, taxi rides (esp at rush hour), food & lodging, and visa expenses can really add up if you make more than one trip.

3. Do NOT purchase airline tickets beforehand. Do NOT even purchase airline tickets after she is told that she is APPROVED at the interview, as my fiancee was. My fiancee received a "blue letter" AFTER the interview when she had received a letter which stated "Congratulations! You are approved. Now you are read for the next step in the process." Until she has the actual visa and sealed immigration packet in her own hands, do NOT purchase anything, or like me, you will be out a few thousand dollars.

-Still waiting....

Thanks for your replies. I was under the impression that the visa took a few days. I was hoping to return to chengdu with my daughter after the interview and leave with her back to the US in a few days. Wow she is going to be bummed.

Nevermind, I didn't ask my question clearly. It appears it takes 2-3 business days to issue the visa (according to Guangzhou website) and she has 6 months to enter the US. Is this 2-3 issuance pretty accurate?
