Wondering if you guys have experience with Xoom, Remit2India, Money2India. Would like to know how their service is? And which one you like the better to send the fund from US to India bank account?

western union is most popular in India. you can send money direct into bank account or one can collect the money from its centers present everywhere.

I have dealt with xoom to Philippines. It is decent to use. The money was transferred quick. I did bank account to bank account transfer. There is a charge other than just the 5.99 transfer. Like the exchange rate for Philippines is p42.38, but xoom will give you p41.38. Its a small charge. Western union is a $10 fee between bank accounts, $4 more, but they give you the full exchange rate. So in my case, anything I transfer less than $168 USD is better through xoom than western union.

Thats the feedback I can give.

I've dealt with Xoom and must say, the service is pretty good. You remit the money today, and it gets to the account the very next day. Very efficient.

I have used remit2india and they have been ok. Last year I had switched to CitiRemit, service provided by Citi. It worked well too, but unfortunately they have since discontinued the service.

Xoom seems to be the fastest, and if you send more than 1K USD, you pay no fees. Many a time your bank in India will have a tie up with some kind of service or US bank as well (e.g HDFC has a service called quickremit, which is basically operated by Remit2india. I have been using this since the last year or so)

I have used Xoom about 6 times in the last year. They are very efficient. The money does get transferred in matter of hours. The first time takes a little longer as they have to verify the bank accounts etc. Also, you get to know upfront exactly what exchange rate you are getting and exactly how much will get deposited in the account in India.

Personally I think Xoom is great, I've been using it for a couple years now. When you send money to an HDFC bank account or Punjab National Bank it literally gets there in less than a minutes, its awesome. Plus, no fees if you send over $1,000. I would recommend trying it.

I like Money2India from ICICI. I tried 3 services prior to this, and all of them refused to let me transfer to my wife's account and would not tell me what the problem was! It takes about a week but the fees are tiny and it always gets there.
