My wife and two of three children came here last year on K1/K2. We were married and now are in the middle of the AOS processs.

But we now want to bring the lthird (last) child here. So I wrote the embassy to see if it was possible and got a positive response... see below:

------------------------------

Thank you for your inquiry.

We can issue a K2 to the third child provided that he obtains an interview with us (you will have to follow the instructions at http://colombia.usvisa-info.com to pay for an book an immigrant visa appointment for him in the fiancée visa category) and is able to meet all the requirements for obtaining a visa (medical examination, birth certificate, completed application forms) before June 28, 2012. If he is unable to complete all of those processing steps by that date, you can file an I-130 petition with USCIS for him as your step-child.

Sincerely,

Immigrant Visa Unit

U.S. Embassy Bogota

------------------------------

But when I go to the site i see no information about exactly what forms need to be prepared, I believe I need to have him do the DS-156; but is there something more? DS-230?

He needs photos? To take to the appointment at the embassy?

And what exactly does he need to take to the embassy with him?

You'd think that I would remember all of this since I just did all for three people only a year ago.

Thanks

Form I-824, Application for Action on an Approved Application or Petition

A copy of the original application or petition that you used to apply for your immigrant status

A copy of the I-797 Notice of Action for your original application or petition

A copy of your alien registration receipt card or I-551

Proof that the child meets the appropriate criteria for Following-to-Join Benefits

You should file the I-824 at the USCIS office that took the most recent action on your case.

If the I-824 is approved, the USCIS will notify a U.S. consulate that you are now a lawful permanent resident so that your children can apply for immigrant visas. You must then ask your children to report to the local U.S. consulate to complete the processing.
