File Transmit to Guangzhou for EP

I am communicating with Guangzhou on a personal (but important) issue. They told me that they didn't have the Case File yet (I'm EP), and not to contact them again until they have it.

Today, NVC informed me that I have been assigned an Interview Date. They said that I would receive Packet 3 later today. However, they said that they HAD NOT transmitted the file to Guangzhou yet. They said that it would take about another week, They told me that I could call again, and that my record would say when it was transmitted.

Not trusting anything that NVC Operators say, here is my question for the REAL Experts: ;-)

1) I thought the file would be sent (electronically) immediately after interview was set?

2) Is it likely that it really will take a week for it to be sent?

3) Can the Operators reliably see when/if it's been sent?

THANKS IN ADVANCE!

Cases are only sent out to the consulate/embassy once an interview date has been scheduled. If yours was just scheduled today, then your case will be sent out shortly. Typically, it's the day after, but can take up to a week (or more in rare cases). Since you did EP, the file will be sent electronically, yes. And yes, the operators can see what date your case was sent out on. I was able to get the date in my case.

So to confirm, NVC does not send the physical paper to GuangZhou, instead just the electronic version? The reason I am asking this is that people said it's going to take weeks even months for paper documents to be cleared in Chinese custom.

If only electronic version sent to GuangZhou, I guess I have to email NVC my bona fide documents, which is a nicely bound book with hard front/back cover and hard for NVC to re-scan into their system. -)

That's why it's suggested to do EP for China as you avoid this.

1. within 24 hours.

2. no

3. yes

However, none of that matters. What matters is:

1. interview date

2. 'casefile opened' timetick, gotten from the DoS Hotline (not NVC).

Sometimes my language usage seems confusing - please feel free to 'read it twice', just in case !

you should study a bit at

then unbind your book today, have a day / night of scanning and emailing. It will slow down your case at NVC, up to a week, but IMO (and others) it's so worth it.

for an EP case, NVC sends no paper to GUZ IV. SAFEFILE is used, solely.

FWIW, I'm one of those people that say it's gonna take weeks even months for paper documents to clear through Chinese Customs. Yer not a paper-file case - do NOT submit paper to NVC. Submit EMAIL, instead.

Poor me for binding the bona fide as a book. Should I wait to send scanned after I get NVC # or, email the scanned to NVCInquiry@state.gov? Thanks for advice in advance.
