Mail to Colombia

What is the best way to sen a package to Cali Colombia, I checked with Fed Ex, ($ 500.00) for 6 Lbs.

I had this same dilemna a few weeks ago when deciding how to mail a package to my fiance in NICARAGUA!

Fed Ex, DHL, UPS were all over 200.00$!...so I decided to take a chance and go with the U.S. Postal Service (Even though Ive heard international Postal Services are sometimes a distaster!)

I sent my package through USPS EXPRESS with tracking and it arrived to NICARAGUA safely in 5 DAYS!

You can send your package via USPS which is less expensive but delivery is not guaranteed as soon as it leaves the US. That's how I mail stuff because it saves me a ton of money and it always arrives intact.

Some people here on VJ have highly recommended Mundotransport, so check it out to see if it's something you would like to use.

Here's my experience. USPS - Got items stolen and could not reclaim. DHL - Cost me an arm and a leg to ship something that cost me $35 (payed over $100!!!). I mostly ship using a company that specializes in shipments to Colombia and I never had a problem! I also have used Avianca to ship my package, again no problem, and very quickly. Avianca is the fastest, but they will open your package to see what's inside.

if you live where there are large latino immigrant populations like in Florida, then ask some of the locals which local small latino/colombian business has arrangements for shipping to Colombia.

you will often find that small groceries, check cashing and other small latino stores offer this service.

nobody pays 500 dollars to ship 6 pounds......the big US companies that try charging that are crazy.

for 500 dollars, I would expect the CEO of FedEx to personally deliver the package and also take me along.

basically, the large US companies are telling us that they do not want the business.
