Thanks, Ryan, I thought I posted a response to that, but apparently I didn't let it go through before changing pages.

The place I mentioned in my post about it, go out the line 3 Zhujiang New Town subway exit A or B (it's the A/B exit hall and is the first exit path on your left down that hall). You'll emerge with an intersection to your left, and the correct medical center is the second building on your right (down the smaller looking street).

They go to lunch from noon to 1, but you can wait inside the area on the 5th floor (pretty sure the 5th), it has the lights off. And you can still pick up your results the next day at three.

There IS a clinic at the bottom of the building with the consulate, but I highly doubt they would accept a medical exam from there, referring to the document Ryan posted.

And one more note I only just remembered, the document says it's 800rmb for adults, but my wife was charged nearly 1300. So was everyone else she heard. Just to give you guys a head's up.

Luigi, quick OT question. Did your wife have any shots before the med exam or records or her vaccines? Can they do the shots same day? Thanks!

She had no records (or at least didn't bring them with her, if she had any). She got 4 shots that day, during her test (we went in the afternoon). She got MMR shot 1, Td, chicken pox (varicella), and the flu. That may have been why it cost more, I don't know. But the vaccinations that you may need they seem to have there, and do right then and there.

If you have medical records from prior shots, you may not need it, I don't know.

So yeah, you'll be fine with shots, they've got everything for you (which really surprised me).

Thanks, been a little worried about that. My wife doesn't have any records either.

Since results aren't ready next day till 3, if you go to clinic the day before Doc Intake day, can you bring the results the day of the actual Interview?

Yes and no. They asked for our missing document, again, on actual interview day. However, my wife got out of the document intake too late to get her medical exam results, had we waited. It was like 4:30, I think. So you have a second chance to turn in any documents you might have forgotten on the second day, but the time window you get to pick up the medical report after the document intake is too small, in my opinion to try it. And they only give results after 3:00, so if you wait two days, you can't pick them up in the morning.

I thought I heard that (at least one) of the clinics is open on Sunday? If so, Saturday too? Anyone have info/hours on that?

The Guangzhou clinic is open until I believe 5 Monday through Friday, and is open until 1 on Saturdays (maybe 12). You can get your exam done, but cannot pick up papers, as they only give those out after 3PM, for some reason.

Also, the actual exam is very short, all things considered. My wife I think spent 30 minutes, after she was called up.

I almost forgot, it seems this clinic only takes walk-ins, and does not take appointments. I believe the instructions say to call and make an appointment. However, if you call them, they won't answer, and reply with a text message stating the hours and address and so on.

This is the only clinic that does this in Guangzhou? I thought there was more than one and that one was open Sunday?

According to the medical exam instructions form, there's one in Fuzhou, one in Beijing, one in Shanghai, and one in Guangzhou. I thought there were 5, but apparently only 4.

If you're a K visa applicant, there's a different letter. The instructions I have say so. They could be slightly different. But for CR1/IR1 definitely, this paper says there's only 1 in Guangzhou (and 4 in this whole country).

We didn't try anywhere else because even if we saved 1000rmb doing so, the risk was too great to justify it to us, so we just went where they said. And this one is closed Sundays, and Saturday afternoons. That's all I know about it. I don't know any of the other ones.

Thanks for your detailed reply Luigi.

One more question: Does anyone know if you go to the Clinic on Friday, can you pick up the results on Saturday (since they are only open in the morning)?

No, you can't. I don't know why, but even if you went on Monday and tried to pick them up that Saturday they wouldn't do it. For some reason they really only release them after 3PM. So basically, if your document intake is Tuesday, you can do the test Saturday and pick them up Monday, but that's the best you get. If your intake is Monday, you need to do the test Thursday. It's too bad, but that's the best we can do.

I forget if I mentioned, we arrived in Guangzhou around 10AM Thursday and made it to the clinic around 12:15 (and we did a few other things). So you get plenty of time if you get there by 10AM. And it's so convenient taking just the subway from the airport to its terminal (Tiyu Xilu), then changing trains (not subway lines)to the next stop (Zhujiang New Town), if memory serves.

(I know how it is trying to keep your trip costs down about the Saturday question, though, we tried looking into that, ourselves).

ps. You didn't get your scheduling notice yet, did you?

My wife's document intake day was on March 26, which was a Monday. Her body exam we did on the prior Thursday, in the afternoon, the results were ready Friday after 3 (we did it in Guangzhou). So, yeah, we needed to stay over the weekend. At least it gave us ample time to familiarize ourselves with the location of the consulate and the medical exam location.

We stayed near the Zhujiang New Town exit of the subway (the medical exam is like 100 steps to the right when you come to the surface, it's really close), but I think staying near Linhexi is a better idea, as your actual interview day is 7:30AM, and the trip from where we stayed was about an hour (walking, then subway, walking, again, and so on). The consulate is nearest the Linhexi or railway station exits. On the bright side, you take the same subway line (line 3) for the medical exam AND the consulate, you just have to change trains between them, AND it's the subway line out of the airport.

Hope this helps, a little.

I'm a little confused on this. My wife tells me that the Medical Clinic is near the Zhujiang Subway Sataion. BUT, she is telling me that the clinic information (that she is reading on their Chinese Web Site), says that the Consulate is just across the street??? Your post seems to indicate that they are far from each other. :help:
