Travel during ROC with NOA1/extension letter

Hi Peeps :)

I know canada and mexico do not require visas for US permanent residents to visit.

My GC will expire end of July..

We're going to mexico for a week in Sept. (Yay, Riviera Maya!!!!)

I will not have a visitor visa just my GC and extension letter/NOA.

Has anyone travelled internationally to a visa-not-required country with expired GC and the extension?

I'm sure going back into US will be less of a problem (I'm assuming the NOA is a common thing they see at POE)

I'm just wondering if they will not know what this extension letter is in Mexico.

Will there be raised eyebrows.. or will they know how to deal with this?

I'm not super concerned but would like to be prepared..

Any suggestion of what to bring just in case?

Any mexico-specific experience?

Make sure you bring the original letter with you not a copy. As well as your expired green card.

Your I-129f was approved in 5 days from your NOA1 date.

Your interview took 67 days from your I-129F NOA1 date.

AOS was approved in 2 months and 8 days without interview.

ROC was approved in 3 months and 2 days without interview.

Make sure you bring the original letter with you not a copy. As well as your expired green card.

Definitely will bring the original.

Will probably be super OCD and email an electronic copy to myself too.

The expired GC and extenstion letter always works getting you back into the US. It may or may not work for entry to Canada or Mexico as you are at the mercy of the immigration officer. If you want to increase your chances of consistant behavior write to the Mexican consulate nearest you and ask about the process , if the answer is positive take a copy of the email clearly showing the official address.

This will not be over quickly. You will not enjoy this.
