There are also, literally, thousands of scholarships and grants out there. Check them out, find ones that apply to you and apply for them. Some are small, $500 or $1000 but they can add up. Some pay you directly, others pay the school, but if your total scholarships and grants exceed you tuition and fees, they refund the money to you. Filing for grants and scholarships can be a rewarding "part time job" so to speak.

I can't believe that no one has mentioned this:

At the 3 places that I took classes (2 were degree programs, one was to further my professional abilities and $$), there were fees based on my residency.

The first place I went had county fees, then state fees, then out-of-state fees. You had to provide proof of living in a place for 2 years to qualify for the lower fees.

The second place I went to had in-state fees and out-of-state fees. The differences were horrid. Once enrolled, you could not change status no matter how long you lived there until you did not take any classes for a full 2 years.

It may very well be worth it to stay put and save up money before beginning. When you are looking at a place to move too, this is worth considering.

Something else that might be worthwhile to check out is that some universities/colleges allow employees (and families sometimes, also) to attend classes for free. If you can get a non-student-job on campus somewhere, you might be able to attend for only the cost of your supplies. My niece this this to get her nursing degree.

Good luck!
