i expect quite a few to poke lots of holes in your theory.

Ya like when Dr. Spock had that book on how to raise your kids first came out. That was the beginning of the end. It's the people who read books on how to raise your kids that have the most problems imo.

"I want to take this opportunity to mention how thankful I am for an Obama re-election. The choice was clear. We cannot live in a country that treats homosexuals and women as second class citizens. Homosexuals deserve all of the rights and benefits of marriage that heterosexuals receive. Women deserve to be treated with respect and their salaries should not depend on their gender, but their quality of work. I am also thankful that the great, progressive state of California once again voted for the correct President. America is moving forward, and the direction is a positive one."

Ask any homosexual person (not that I expect you to know any ) when they knew they were gay.

I would be very surprised if he DIDN'T know some homosexuals! He might not know they were homosexual but the statistics indicate a prevalence rate that makes it very difficult not to know them. Having an intolerant attitude and living in a place where that is the norm makes it likely that most of them in his sphere of acquaintance remain closeted. One of the best factors in promoting tolerance is when you come to realize that close family and friends actually include individuals that you had not realized were gay/lesbian!

Tolerance is over rated and not always a good thing. I mean should anyone tolerate mass murders?

You mean like Menachem Begin, Ariel Sharon, and Benjamin Netanyahu?

That post brings up a good question which brings up another good question. "Does the end result justify the means?"

Only if you win, then you get to right the history books.

George Orwell said it well when he wrote; “He who controls the present, controls the past. He who controls the past, controls the future.”

It was in reference to the Bolsheviks.

Wrong. Boys out hunting quail and fishing by the time their age 5 - 6 is going to have a bigger impact. Give the kid a BB gun when he hits age 5, teach him some gun skills and take him to some ball games. Get him into team sports and point out the hot chicks when your with the kid at the mall. It's all part of parenting.

Why_Me, if I might be so bold as to quote, albeit paraphrased, your fellow comrade:

... we would so much prefer your experience on raising [your own] children. Can you share?

You do make a salient point in the statement below. Boys who witness domestic violence are more likely to batter their female partners than boys raised in non-violent homes. Family violence, such as 'smacking your boy around to toughen him up', falls under the rather large umbrella of Domestic Violence. I agree: how you raise your son WILL play an important role in the man that he becomes.

There's going to be a few in every crowd but I still stick to the theory that how you bring up your boys play an important role in how they will turn out later on.

“Any woman can fool a man if she wants to and if he's in love with her.”

that would be me too then. i read them so i can be a better parent, along with knowing the model you suggest isn't a one size fits all prescription as i grew up with that model. it wasn't the most fun.

This is all they need to understand. The rest they can learn in school.

Who's raising the kids...the parents or the government?

On a serious note, do you ever wonder why this country has gotten so majorly screwed up and keeps getting worse? It's not politically correct to give the correct answer these days, but it doesn't take a rocket scientist to point out some major flaws that have come about in the past 2+ decades. This country is going down the sh*tter.

*raises hand*

My ex-husband was one of five boys. Three "single" births, and one set of twins.

Their parents never divorced and lived together fifty-some years until till my ex-FIL passed away.

The Father worked in a factory, raised a garden, was handy around the house. He was an all around product of his era - part farmer, part laborer.

The Mother stayed home to raise the boys. She baked and canned and washed and cleaned.

The husband was devoted to the wife. Never hesitated to give her a grab if he felt like it, no matter who was around.

The boys were raised together in a tiny house. They all had paper routes and chores around the house. They all learned to mow and paint and do man-things around the house. The few toys they had were boy toys. Their parents took them once a year to a MoBy's store (Mens and Boys) to get their school clothes and annual pair of shoes. There wasn't time or money for pampering. There wasn't money for musical instruments or private schools or art classes or "sissy" stuff. They all got a regular public school education with no frills.

My ex-husband's twin brother was as flaming gay as the man in Meagan's example.

He was raised EXACTLY the same way as his four brothers. Who all married (some more than once), had families, had affairs, and were otherwise heterosexual.
