Sorry to hear about your dilemma but I wanted you to know this. I hired an atty for just the petition. I got an rfe for which he wanted to charge . Long story short, we are on our own now. But the hardcopy for the rfe went to him, the noa2 went to him, and the letter for nvc went to him. So, if you fire your lawyer, send a letter to USCIS, and to NVC, and to the consulate if your case manages to make it out of this. Good luck to you. By the way, I was out 800 for my lesson.

Good advice except make the attorney do the letter and give it to you to mail. There is a form he sumitted to enter himself as your attorney, he needs to withdraw as your attorney.

Also make sure he gives you a copy of anything he ever sent or received, basically your entire file.

I-129F is a petition for fiancee visa. If they have a reason to believe that you are not legally single and are already married, they could deny your petition. Approval time varies between 4-6 months

I don't have anything concrete to share, but just wanted to add that I also received my NOA1 the early part of February 2012 and still waiting. So take a bit of solace in knowing they haven't skipped over you - just haven't gotten to our apps yet. :)

I guess I did something wrong in my life by getting PhD, and spending all this time learning.

Should've just become an attorney and collect all the fees they do (no education, no bills)!!! :rofl:

Never used an attorney for any purposes neither will ever use one!!!

This site is the best attorney you can get!!! Very informative, helpful and FREE!!!

Attorneys can serve a purpose in REAL legal proceedings where they can enter pleas, make appearances, etc. You can go do something else. They can keep you out of jail, so to spaek.

In this process there is nothing for them TO do. What? Fill out a form with YOUR information? They cannot go to interviews for you, they cannot change the immigration law, they cannot make anything go faster or easier.

Now it has been pointed out to me that some people are not capable of doing this themselves, but the answer is not an ATTORNEY. The answer is someone(s) familiar with the process.

Wow ... I can't believe how many "IDIOT ATTORNEY" stories I read over and over again. What is the use having these people screw up our relationships for hundreds of dollars?

The process does not require the ability if a good attorney, hence good attorneys do not do them. Good attorneys make a lot more money doing attorney work. I mean, where ARE "idiot attorneys" going to end up working?
