Hi VJs,

does anyone know where to call when temporary green card not arrived in more than 2 months after POE and passport stamped?

Thanks.

We called the 800-375-5283 number, hit 1 for english (if your chosen language) then 3 (for immigration benefits), then follow the questions to approved case then to permanent residency. Between 8-8 M-F EST they have someone there to help. They added a zero to our address (SSN came no problem) and we had to reorder the card. It should take 15-20 business days to turnaround as per the lady on the USCIS phone. Hope this helps!!

Bob

but

2 months? really? I suspect something is wrong with the address that uscis stored for yer spouse's greencard delivery.

call into USCIS, get a Tier 2 ISO, and inquire ...............................................

do you have any returned mail pieces on me?

Good Luck !

I'm confused. The GC you receive in the mail is a permanent green card, not temporary. The CR-1 visa is your temporary green card.

It's a common mis-term. By "temporary" the OP means conditional GC. Also, the CR-1 visa is NOT a "temporary GC", it's a visa that only when activated generates a GC (and they get an I-551 stamp in their passport at the airport). Someone holding a CR-1 visa is not an LPR until the visa is activated by entering the US (thus voiding the CR-1 because it's a single entry visa). The I-551 stamp is the GC stamp they get in their passport at which point they are considered an LPR. Again, the visa is just a visa, NOT a "temporary GC".

As the OP was married less than 2 years they get a conditional GC. They entered on a CR-1 so they should have had the GC mailed to them when they entered on the CR-1 visa and they are saying that they have yet to receive it. Implies there is something wrong with the address on their paperwork OR perhaps their mail box (a common error is not having the immigrants name on the mailbox and USPS sometimes won't deliver mail if the name on the box is wrong).

OP - I agree with Darnell. Call and find out whether they've received any mail returned to sender and ask about the tracking (they track them now). Hopefully they have received it back. If they've mailed the GC and you have not received it but their system shows it as delivered AND it's not been returned to sender... you will need to file an I-90 and pay the associated fee ($450) to get a new one.

oh I'm so silly - I forgot one important bit -

when yer talking to USCIS - ask them for the TRACKING NUMBER for the greencard.

This is a newish thing, tracking #'s assigned to green card mailings. Once you have the tracking #, hit up http://www.usps.com and find it.

Good Luck !

That's okay, I already did in my post :)

That said, they will only show it as delivered, they won't tell you who picked it up. Happened to my wedding pics. Showed as "delivered" but it sure wasn't delivered to me! (even though the address was correct on the mailing.. so my photographer said anyway).

no, alas, not for USCIS green card delivery.

It'll show ALL the tracking info, from the time it left USCIS card production center, to the time a delivery was attempted.

That's standard for all tracking. It does NOT show you whether "Timmy" picked it up or anything like that.

I'm aware that the CR-1 has to be stamped to be a temporary GC, but I was addressing the OP who has already entered. I'm also aware of the difference between the conditional GC and the non-conditional GC.

I mentioned nothing about Timmy and his ilk. You have introduced Timmy into the mix.

What's up?

You seem to be misunderstanding. As I said in my post "... they will only show it as delivered, they won't tell you who picked it up..."

You then said "It'll show ALL the tracking info, from the time it left USCIS card production center, to the time a delivery was attempted."

I said that the amount of tracking info is standard for all tracking (not just USCIS). The problem is tracking may show it as "delivered" but it could be delivered to the wrong person/location, as happened with my wedding pics. Just because USCIS says it was delivered doesn't mean it was the OP that got it. Regardless of WHO got it, if it was delivered to someone else (again, as happened with my wedding pics), and that person did not returned to sender then the OP will be the one who has to file the I-90 and pay the fee to get a new card. USCIS will only re-send the card at their expense if the card is returned to sender.

ah - Now I understand. I not mention the 'signature area' showing who signed for it - as this is NOT a part of that tracking because of the delivery service type.
