Should the post padding and no thought required threads in Off Topic be eliminated?

Please keep this in Site Related Discussion. I'd like to hear what you gals and guys think about closing the threads in OT that serve no purpose at all except to add to your post count. Specifically I am talking about threads such as the Countdown thread where numbers are posted in a descending order, and as of late, ascending too. No thought required for this supposed game at all. It exists soley to be able to post hundreds if not thousands of times a day.

Also the Time thread where people post the time a hundred times a day just to add to their post count. Ditto for the Say Something about the person above you thread. It usually ends up with someone getting insulted and bad feelings are bred which carry over into other threads. I'm sure I've missed a couple too. Several of the old threads of this type have already been closed but the new ones have taken their place.

IMHO, these threads require zero thought and serve no purpose except to encourage users to post for the sake of posting. I feel that these types of threads do more harm than good for the forum and this was the case in the past just as it is now.

These types of threads have lead to problems in the past and they are causing problems now. These threads have been and are currently being monopolized by a few users. This has lead to animosity and hostility in the past and the same thing is occurring again. I have here for 4 years and I know that there is rather strong resentment for certain members for thread monopolization and posting just to increase one's numbers. Some new users become intimidated and don't participate while other users become dominating.

Off Topic used to be just that, off topic. Now it is basically all games. I don't want to come across as against games because I'm not. I think there are a few good ones being played now that actually require a bit of thought.

Why not make off topic fun for all? Thoughts, suggestions, ideas, etc.

Hmm post count? what does a post count do? I'm not familiar with it.You get awarded for it I really don't know about it but as for some things like playing games I think it's for passing time and getting to know people on this site.Now any bad threads should be deleted.My opinion only.

By post count I mean adding to your total post number. Posting for the sake of posting. Posting a number or the time a thousand times a day. Those are not games. There are a few very good games to play that actually require a bit of thought. I suggest keeping those and getting rid of the garbage.
