where can i get the 221g?
You don't WANT a 221g. A 221g, issued by a consular officer, means that the visa is being withheld pending further information that they want you to supply, or it can be part of an outright refusal of the visa.

Please: CALM DOWN; PREPARE for what might happen; and STUDY the process. In addition, construct and complete your timeline so that people here can better be of help to you.

06-04-2007 = TSC stamps postal return-receipt for I-129f.

06-11-2007 = NOA1 date (unknown to me).

07-20-2007 = Phoned Immigration Officer; got WAC#; where's NOA1?

09-25-2007 = Touch (first-ever).

09-28-2007 = NOA1, 23 days after their 45-day promise to send it (grrrr).

10-20 & 11-14-2007 = Phoned ImmOffs; "still pending."

12-11-2007 = 180 days; file is "between workstations, may be early Jan."; touches 12/11 & 12/12.

12-18-2007 = Call; file is with Division 9 ofcr. (bckgrnd check); e-prompt to shake it; touch.

12-19-2007 = NOA2 by e-mail & web, dated 12-18-07 (187 days; 201 per VJ); in mail 12/24/07.

01-09-2008 = File from USCIS to NVC, 1-4-08; NVC creates file, 1/15/08; to consulate 1/16/08.

01-23-2008 = Consulate gets file; outdated Packet 4 mailed to fiancee 1/27/08; rec'd 3/3/08.

04-29-2008 = Fiancee's 4-min. consular interview, 8:30 a.m.; much evidence brought but not allowed to be presented (consul: "More proof! Second interview! Bring your fiance!").

05-05-2008 = Infuriating $12 call to non-English-speaking consulate appointment-setter.

05-06-2008 = Better $12 call to English-speaker; "joint" interview date 6/30/08 (my selection).

06-30-2008 = Stokes Interrogations w/Ecuadorian (not USC); "wait 2 weeks; we'll mail her."

07-2008 = Daily calls to DOS: "currently processing"; 8/05 = Phoned consulate, got Section Chief; wrote him.

08-07-08 = E-mail from consulate, promising to issue visa "as soon as we get her passport" (on 8/12, per DHL).

08-27-08 = Phoned consulate (they "couldn't find" our file); visa DHL'd 8/28; in hand 9/1; through POE on 10/9 with NO hassles(!).

Also, I might recommend asking your fiance to come to VJ as well. He's the petitioner so needs to be prepared in the event of an RFE or something similar.

In everyone's life, at some time, our inner fire goes out. It is then burst into flame by an encounter with another human being. We should all be thankful for those people who rekindle the inner spirit.

Due to circumstances beyond our control, we've abandoned this application

We married on Aug 24, 2013 in a small ceremony in MA

We'll be applying for a CR1 / IR1 visa as soon as we are able

Everybody is getting all bent out of shape about a woman calling her fiance "hubby".

Yet how many threads do I read on VJ about how to have a "religious" (not legal) ceremony and get away with it.

I think everybody needs to get on the same page about things.

And that's all.

Our journey together on this earth has come to an end.

I will see you one day again, my love.

Yes! Wait for the CO to ask for that after your interview. Cheer up! Message me if you have further questions :)

First of all, this is wrong. You DO NOT WAIT for AFTER your interview. You obtain the CENOMAR as a document to provide the Manila CO to show you are not married BEFORE your interview and present it with the other relevant documents.

thank you so much..can i request for CEMAR if im not married yet...

Second of all, heize anne, if you are not and have not ever been married, you will NOT be getting CEMAR (Certificate of Marriage). You will get CENOMAR (certificate of NO marriage). These are not typos nor are they the same thing. Both can be received through the Philippines NSO. As I see much confusion relating to your situation, and it is beyond the "hubby""wifey" name calling, I am providing you with clear and concise instructions on what you will need for your interview. Please click the link: US Embassy Manila K-1 Instructions I hope this helps. Use the embassy's website to your advantage for your future steps.

idk maybe it all depends on on ur embassy and which country you are from.

but my husband and i called each other most of the time hubby and wifey in our emails while we were engaged. we didnt had any problem at all. the officer at the embassy thought it was cute.

i know here in the states it is a cute way of calling someone like that.means u serious but not married.

in most areas in the states its even a bad term when a guy calls his gf wifey it means he never will marry her. its slang.

maybe in your country the embassy is more strict. i hope for you not. do you call each other other names as well like sweetie, boo , honey or so?? maybe that helps as well..

Sure, a couple can get away with it. It's ill advised to treat it lightly though. This is one of those gray areas where it is all at the discretion of the CO. Engaged couples are not married and should present themselves as engaged. I don't know anyone unmarried in the states that calls each other "hubby" and "wifey". I have no doubt some people do. It is not accurate to generalize the population in this way though. Couples going through the bureaucracy of immigration can not even be compared. We are presenting our relationships as a case. The burden of proof falls on us so everything we present will more than likely be taken literally.

Even you are not married the CO could ask for CEMAR if the officer suspects you have been married which has happened already to one of us here. You should wait for the CO's further instruction should 221g is being issued because Manila embassy would want those document be sent directly from NSO to unit IV immigration unit.

That clears up the specifics then. I can understand what you mean now. Stating to wait until after the interview to present a CENOMAR is what was stated earlier and is an automatic cause for 221g. Therefore, it is wrong to do so. What you stated here is in fact a good example of when one might need to present anything after the interview. I understand this is a possibility. However, for the purposes of being prepared and following instructions, a person who is not married nor has ever been married should have a CENOMAR ready to present at the time of the interview. If there is no suspicion as in most legit cases, that's it. Done.
