STOP doing that. Visas CAN and HAVE been denied for that. It is NOT like calling someone "Mommy or Daddy".

There are soecific and important differences in visas for fiancees and spouses. Many people have gotten married and when they find out the soouse visa takes longer to process they decide to misrepresent themselves as engaged. This is fraud and can result in visa denial and a lifetime ban for future visas.

You can call him "honey", "poopsie", "darling", "sweetheart" "snuggle bunny" whatever, but NOT "hubby" or any other term related to marriage.

You cannot "prove" you are NOT married. That is the problem. A CENOMAR only states that there is no record of a marriage in PIs, nothing else.

Lets be realistic. She can call him what ever she wants, REGARDLESS. How people take it in any situation, is on them.

How dare you chastise this person, when she is coming for help. You should be ashamed of yourself.

You dig a hole there woman but my advice is stop stressing about it. Wait and prepare for your coming interview and explain truthfully that calling a bf/fiance a hubby is just a "new generational endearment" in our country. You have a big chance of getting away from this hurdle for the ff reasons;

1. The initial interviewers at the Manila Embassy are mostly Filipinos if not all. They know about this "hubby endearment" as a cliche and the term is frequently used in Philippine modern culture.

2. There is a big possibility you will be issued a 221g for more evidence/s given your scenario, but it won't put you in the dead-end. The CO after the interview if raises his/her suspicions then CENOMAR Re-verification will be done given you have initially sent that document during USCIS stage.

3. Contrary to some members here saying you cannot prove that you haven't been married, Manila Consulate sometimes issues Marriage re-verification called CEMAR. ( I went through these 2 process so don't worry it can be done ). NSO will issue a sworn statement/certificate on your status history of marriage. Mine showed 1 MARRIAGE FOUND ON RECORD.

Pray! and quit calling him hubby until the wedding is done :) Best wishes! (F) (F) (F) (F)

thank you so much..can i request for CEMAR if im not married yet...

It's on the OP, because she freely provided USCIS (and, eventually, the embassy) information that they could hang her with. Her petition could be denied, or the visa could be refused. That's the entire point of this thread.
How dare you chastise this person, when she is coming for help. You should be ashamed of yourself.
There's nothing so tragic as the murder of a beautiful theory (sympathy above all) by a gang of brutal facts (what could objectively happen). Edited by TBoneTX

06-04-2007 = TSC stamps postal return-receipt for I-129f.

06-11-2007 = NOA1 date (unknown to me).

07-20-2007 = Phoned Immigration Officer; got WAC#; where's NOA1?

09-25-2007 = Touch (first-ever).

09-28-2007 = NOA1, 23 days after their 45-day promise to send it (grrrr).

10-20 & 11-14-2007 = Phoned ImmOffs; "still pending."

12-11-2007 = 180 days; file is "between workstations, may be early Jan."; touches 12/11 & 12/12.

12-18-2007 = Call; file is with Division 9 ofcr. (bckgrnd check); e-prompt to shake it; touch.

12-19-2007 = NOA2 by e-mail & web, dated 12-18-07 (187 days; 201 per VJ); in mail 12/24/07.

01-09-2008 = File from USCIS to NVC, 1-4-08; NVC creates file, 1/15/08; to consulate 1/16/08.

01-23-2008 = Consulate gets file; outdated Packet 4 mailed to fiancee 1/27/08; rec'd 3/3/08.

04-29-2008 = Fiancee's 4-min. consular interview, 8:30 a.m.; much evidence brought but not allowed to be presented (consul: "More proof! Second interview! Bring your fiance!").

05-05-2008 = Infuriating $12 call to non-English-speaking consulate appointment-setter.

05-06-2008 = Better $12 call to English-speaker; "joint" interview date 6/30/08 (my selection).

06-30-2008 = Stokes Interrogations w/Ecuadorian (not USC); "wait 2 weeks; we'll mail her."

07-2008 = Daily calls to DOS: "currently processing"; 8/05 = Phoned consulate, got Section Chief; wrote him.

08-07-08 = E-mail from consulate, promising to issue visa "as soon as we get her passport" (on 8/12, per DHL).

08-27-08 = Phoned consulate (they "couldn't find" our file); visa DHL'd 8/28; in hand 9/1; through POE on 10/9 with NO hassles(!).

Yes, she can call him what she likes. Yes, how people take it is on them. However, this thread is talking about how an interviewing consular officer will take it. Not Joe Shmoe on the street. Visas have been denied because the interviewer suspects the couple is already married. Calling each other husband and wife (hubby and wifey) can make the CO think you are already married. It is simple as that.

No one was chastising the OP. They were trying to get the point across to the OP (and anyone else that might read this thread and want to file for a K-1 fiance(e) visa) to be careful of what you call each other before you are actually married, and to be even more careful about what evidence you offer up to the consulate for their examination.

Hi!

What Gary and others have said to you is completely correct. We cannot fix whatever mistake has been done... you've been advised to PREPARE.

At the same time, you've also been advised to complete your Timeline here on VJ so we can assist you better.... I'm looking at it now, and the information there is all wrong:

K1 Visa

Service Center : Texas Service Center (This is incorrect)

Consulate : Armenia (aren't you from Philippines???)

I-129F Sent : 2012-05-04 (if this date IS the correct one, it means you JUST have the petition sent out and you haven't received NOA2 yet)

Please take the time to correct this information, as it's crucial to us, to provide better guidance to you.

EDIT: Please stop referring to Hubby or Wifey as a term of endearment. They are short (and slang) to the tittle of husband or wife.

The 2 service centers that process K1 Visas are: Vermont and California.

If your petition is being processed by Vermont, your case number should start with EAC#

If your petition is being processed by California, your case number should start with WAC#

Ok you need to breathe!

Yes, there's nothing you can do about it and we all understand that. Yes! By all means, from now on, if you are going to keep calling him "hubby" do it in your privacy... just remember NOT to submit any more information (emails and such). Call him by his name or pick the pet love that suits your feelings: Love, baby, babe, coochi coo, sweets, sweetie, my penguin from Antarctica... whatever you like!

Everyone gave you a heads up of what MIGHT happen and you should take it seriously; however NONE of us, can tell, with certainty, if you will be rejected or not. Calling someone husband/wife/hubby/wifey is not an automatic rejection.. it could be a HUGE problem; but you won't know what happens until you receive an RFE or your NOA2 ...............and you should be prepared to address this situation IF someone at the embassy, at the time of your interview, asks about it. THAT'S IT!

So, at this time, try to relax. There's nothing else you (or anyone else, for that matter) can do but WAIT good.gif
