My wife moved here in 2008 on a tourist visa. She has a retirement account with 55,000 soles ($18,000)in Lima with a private company. She also owns land in Chaclacayo which is west of Lima. Does she have to get a job here in the USA before she can transfer her money here? We want to put 5K/yr into her Vanguard Roth account after we get the money. We are not allowed to roll it over into this account. Does she have to have a job here in the USA

before she can have the money transferred? Does this need to be a full time job? I dont really understand why we can have it transferred into

a Roth account. Is it better to just leave the money invested in Peru until she reaches retirement age?

And what about the land? Should she sell that or hold on to it? If she sells her land in Peru, how does she get that money here?
