Format of pictures for evidence of meeting, and for ongoing relationship

Hi!

I'm new here, and have spent lots of time investigating the guides, flowcharts, forums, etc... for K-1 visas. I don't have a timeline yet, as we're still getting the I-129F package together.

My question: In the K-1 guide and other places, people seemed to recommend that you attach any pictures on a separate page in ziploc bags (e.g. as part of evidence of meeting and/or evidence of ongoing relationship).

What if I just insert a digital copy of my pictures right into the Word document where I'm typing my 'evidence' info... and even just scan and insert boarding passes, etc, instead of using a separate page from the text? Then add captions under them describing who/what/when the picture is of?

It seems more streamlined and sensible to me... but does anyone know if the CSC (where I think our petition will go) and the Montreal Consulate have any preferences/issues around this?

I've really appreciated the helpful, encouraging, and constructive feedback VJ people give to each other... and looking forward to starting a timeline soon! :)

Thanks!

For our I-129F we included the photographs in plastic bags staple to a description sheet and any other evidence provided (boarding passes, Skype logs, etc) was printed on paper. Keep all originals for the interview. For our AOS (I-485), we printed the photos on paper, dated and described who appeared on it. We didn't have any issue with either. But keep in mind the plastic bag has proven to be an effective way to submit photo evidence for I-129F. Perhaps someone who did what you suggest for their visa could pitch in.

Here are the official instructions for filing I-129F: http://www.uscis.gov/files/form/i-129finstr.pdf. I don't see any specific instructions regarding how to submit photo evidence. This however does not apply to your passport style photos. Those absolutely need to be originals.

For the I-129F, the only photos I put in plastic bags were the passport-style photos required for the forms. For evidence of relationship, I printed about four photos in 4x6 size and stapled them on 8-1/2 by 11 sheets of paper (2 photos per sheet). Then beside or below each photo, I wrote just a brief description of where/when the photo was taken and who the people in the photo were. I also included a photocopy of a couple of boarding passes. That was it.

For my interview, I had a few more copies of boarding passes and I think 2 additional photos, but they didn't ask to see any of it.

If you have office word on your computer you can also copy/paste your photos into a word-document (2 per page) with a little story under each of them (date, where, who or what).

This is what we did and they were accepted, we send about 14 photos with our package.

I did the same thing with my I-130. This is the 21st century - we have much better tools in our hands than just ziploc bags  I'm sure it's much easier for the folks at USCIS to handle as well.

I actually bought a photobook and blank 4x6 index cards, printed the photos out, and put each photo in with a caption on the 4x6 index card indicating the date, circumstances, location, etc for the photo. So you open the photo book and there's a photo in the top slot and a caption on the bottom of each page. No clue if they'll actually keep it that way but it's how I sent it.

I put two pictures of us in a Word document and it was sufficient. :)

This seems pretty cool and saves money. I guess the folks really don't care if you jut send them photos on pieces of paper, right? I'm looking for an update. Who else has done this. Is this possibly a bad thing though because of the possibility of photoshop?...Anyway, I'm curious to know if this will work all the time (i.e. has anyone been sent an RFE because they wanted 4x6 photos instead?). so I can use this method.

For anyone from Canada, I would say print them on paper all you want, I don't know if that's the case for Japan, though. The Canadian Visa process seems to be a lot more lenient. I don't know WHY it wouldn't be okay, or for sure that it wouldn't, but I'm just warning you that Canadians rarely get denied visas.

You can fake a 4x6 photo just as easily as you can on paper, and you can even have the date printed on the back using the kiosks at walmart to print the pictures. That is why pictures are not considered primary evidence.

Right, my story pertains only to the consulate in Montreal and what they accept. :)
