When can I apply for a SSN?

We have filed for my AOS and EAD. Biometrics will be on May 21. I'm still waiting for my Interview Schedule. When can I apply for a SSN? Thanks in advance.

You could have applied 10-14 days after arriving in the US. If there is at least 2 weeks left before your I-94 expires, you can still apply now. If there isn't, you need to wait for your EAD or green card.

And I-94 is valid for 90 days?

so, your clock started on 3/21/2012, the entry date.

the I-94 gives you presence for 90 days.

about the beginning of week 3, past 3/21/2012, you can walk in to any ssa office, and apply in VISA name.

14 days prior to the expiration of the I-94, you are not allowed to apply for the ssn.

So you've a small window of time, now, to apply.

Not apply, not get it? Can apply again after having EAD card in hand, or green card in hand (whichever arrives first)

I already called SSA and they advised to go there when I receive my EAD already. I will receive my EAD either on June 18 or 21.
