Very typical Gary response you mean.

True. What choice do I have? When people who supposedly favor a cause repeatedly abandon that cause and make excuses for accepting the vulgar humilitation of women, refuse to even speak up...what exactly AM I supposed to say?

I am the only one left here to defend women and they will call me ...a misogynist!

Non answer number 2. The next woman OK with denigrating women. I am so surprised. How do you feel about the denigration of women in music, do you really think it does not exist? Do you really believe it is OK?

Answers:

1) I feel that there is denigration of women in popular music.

2) I do not like it.

3) I do not think it is okay.

Question (non-question?): why did you say you found "I'm Sexy and I Know It" offensive then deny you said it?

Do you think "I'm Sexy and I Know It" vulgar humiliation of women and if so, why do you say that? What lyrics do you take issue with?

I will answer your question when you answer mine - we are talking about LMFAO, please stay on topic and quit trying to own your opinion that this song is sexist (because let's face it, we all know that's ridiculous)

So then why do you think the child was suspended? What do you think WOULD be vulgar humiliation of women? What have YOU done to speak out about that?

Why do you take me to task for defending women?

I have an issue with music that IS vulgar humiliation of women. You don't. We can agree to disagree. I do not hate women.

Then why bother posting here if thats all you can ever say? its not very engaging.

Seems like I have said very much more than that. But you focus on what you want and ignore the rest. Big surprise.

This particular 'song' as quoted seems to be more a narcissistic ode to himself and how sexy he finds himself. It says very little about women! The 6 y/o boy quoting it was obviously not denigrating women. Whether it qualifies in ANY setting as sexual harassment is questionable, at the very least, IMO!

Its derogatory towards women to think women would like that garage. It's the same thing for women who support singers like Rhiana. No damn talent whatsoever and yet women flock to these artists.

So no talent artists who bastardize the English language are flocked to by women.... Now THAT is a amusing.

And? My discussion has been about music that leads to the need for such rules, perhaps overzealous in this case, even if the 6 year old were singing about "b*tches" "ho's" "sluts" would he really have any knowledge of it, or would he just be repeating what we have accepted in one part of popular culture? I think the point is purposely being missed by those who say they support women. WHY have we accepted it? WHY is OK for such music to exist? WHY does it have a market?

Look, I am not suggesting censorship, but why is hardcore pornography NOT acceptable on the school bus but people can listen to this music in public? Pass some hardcore sex photos around on an I-phone on a school bus and see what happens. Pass around your Iphone playing disgusting lyrics and who says anything? Let a 6 year old sing a tune and suspend but do not call for the rejection of what he sings (if it is a vulgar song)

WHY? What makes it acceptable? Can anyone answer that or are we going to post more lyrics to an irrelevent song?

I am here to say it is NOT acceptable and I support the policy that results in the suspension of this kid. ZERO tolerance for music abusive to women.

He was suspended because he was waving his rear end in the girl's face, not because of the words "I'm sexy and I know it" which are not appropriate for children.

Try to equate what is not okay for children (tanning salons, for example) with what is not okay for grown women - they are 2 different things you know.

Or maybe you don't, one can never be sure.

This song exists because it is funny. It is also ironic. I think your irony sensor might be broken - better eat more spinach

Freedom of speech is one of the greatest freedoms there is! It is dangerous to our freedoms to give government any wiggle room to be able to ban any kind of speech based on a definition of 'obscenity'! What is obscene to you may not be to me. Some people may find it obscene to criticize our government! Where do you draw the lines? This is a very real problem and I think government in our country has done a damn good job overall with a few relatively minor exceptions. Not everything can or should be regulated. Even, maybe especially, speech that makes us uncomfortable!

Who says such music is 'acceptable'? I have personally put a 100% boycott on such trash. I suspect most people have. But freedom of speech and pursuit of happiness rights do not allow either the individual or the majority to ban such 'entertainment' for everybody. The laws necessary to create the perfect society in one person's definition results in a far from acceptable situation for many others. I thought you, of all people, would understand this! We must compromise and I think we have probably gotten it about as good as possible.

I do not think the government should regulate it at all. But clearly our society has accepted it even if you and I have not. we see, right in this thread, self described feminists defending this trash. WHY?

Something disappearing for lack of interest is not censorship.

Please, do stay comfortably in your zone of defending THAT song. Ignore the issue or try to deflect as much as possible. Carry on.

Please highlight the lyrics in this song that are offensive to women, or more offensive than the typical Why_Me post

"I want to take this opportunity to mention how thankful I am for an Obama re-election. The choice was clear. We cannot live in a country that treats homosexuals and women as second class citizens. Homosexuals deserve all of the rights and benefits of marriage that heterosexuals receive. Women deserve to be treated with respect and their salaries should not depend on their gender, but their quality of work. I am also thankful that the great, progressive state of California once again voted for the correct President. America is moving forward, and the direction is a positive one."

This crazy ####### ####### like what happened to that kid in the OP would never happen in a RUB country for the fact the femin nazi's don't have anything coming to them over there.

This is what it's come down to in this country. Sick and pathetic not to mention it just goes to show how low this country has gone trying to appease a certain man hating crowd with too much pull in the liberal party.
