Pre-Interview Jitters

I'm sure it's quite normal but I feel like I'm going through phases with my feelings for our interview next week. Yesterday I was just excited ready to get it over with. Today I am manically rechecking all of our documents and printing out flight and hotel information. I'm sure it will be fine, either way I'm looking forward to coming towards an end of this process. Anyone else got the pre-interview jitters??

Absolutely every one of us had them but keep repeating in your head that you are ready and you are prepared - they aren't going to ask you anything you don't know the answer to. Coing from Canada is one of the easiest and smoothest generally speaking.

Good luck - hope you got some sleep!

I had them as well. I'm an anxious person by nature, and I'm ALWAYS worried about something! So this was a pretty stressful situation, no matter how many people here at VJ told me that the interview was a piece of cake. But, they were ABSOLUTELY right! If you have all your documents in place, it's honestly a breeze. My interview lasted less than five minutes. It was the easiest part of the entire process and the most rewarding :)

I know it's hard to believe before you've done it, but afterwards, you'll wonder what you were worried about!

Have everything ready and in order and you will be just fine. Took 15 minutes in my case (we were 2nd in line for a morning appointment)... and it doesn't even feel like an interview. They call you to a booth where the IO makes sure he/she has all the required paperwork while he/she asks you couple questions about how you met, when you will marry, etc.

99.999% have jitters before the interview and then 99.999% ask themselves "Thats all the interview was, that was easy!!" And then ask why they spent soo much $$$$$$ for such a quick interview

Canadians Visiting the USA while undergoing the visa process, my free advice:

1) Always tell the TRUTH. never lie to the POE officer

2) Be confident in ur replies

3) keep ur response short and to the point, don't tell ur life story!!

4) look the POE officer in the eye when speaking to them. They are looking for people lieing and have been trained to find them!

5) Pack light! No job resumes with you

6) Bring ties to Canada (letter from employer when ur expected back at work, lease, etc etc)

7) Always be polite, being rude isn't going to get ya anywhere, and could make things worse!!

8) Have a plan in case u do get denied (be polite) It wont harm ur visa application if ur denied, that is if ur polite and didn't lie! Refer to #1

It's true. When I was finished, I even asked the interviewer "That's it? That's all you need from me?" and she laughed. I couldn't believe that such a long, stressful process ended in such an easy way.

Thanks for the encouragement! I have all the documents that I can get, my domicile could potentially be an issue, but I've gotten everything that I can and I'll wait and see. We have a 9 month old so we opted to take a little bit of a chance with the domicile issue rather than split our family up, if they say that we have to then we will, but hopefully they don't make us. I've done what I can and we'll know next week! I'm just ready to be done!

Yup, even I was a nervous wreck for weeks before my interview! I was ALWAYS checking my paperwork... double checking.. triple, checking even up till Midnight, night before my interview... I am also always nervous about things going smoothly and right. My interview also was only about 5 min. Woman was asking me a couple questions while she was typing in computer. After that she said "congratulaions and Merry Christmas" (was 3 weeks before Christmas)

I was like "thats it? Im approved?" she laughed at me as well and said, "yup, your done"

5 min actual talking and almost 3 hours total in line and waiting. Sheesh. I was in a daze after it was done. Like massive wieght all of a sudden off the shoulders.

As long as you have all your documents and paperwork, you wont have a problem.

Good luck :)
