i dont know if this will help you but my husband waited 4 months to get his interview and the embassy in cairo egypt.

i know it is not the embassy in australia but this gives you an idea. depends on their case load and if they are backed up. plus they can only schedule so many interview a month. could be 30 days you will hear something...could be 4 to 6 months you never know.

check the embassy website in australia and see whats going on there.

good luck

You're applying for a K1 Fiance Visa, yes? If so, Sydney should have sent your husband/fiancée via email what's called 'Packet 3'. It will detail further steps for your husband/fiancée to take to get his interview date. If he hasn't got that yet he should email the Sydney consulate at sydneyiv@sate.gov for an update on what's going on. Make sure the subject field is the case number (it should look something like SYDxxxxxxxxx) and the message should have his and your details, including full name, birth dates and passport numbers. Then ask your question. I find this earns quick responses (Note they do take several days to reply to emails).

Hope this helps. :)

Rough Timeline
(I'm terrible with dates)

  • Met online May 2008
  • Began dating August 2010
  • Met face to face July 2011
  • Became engaged October 2011
  • Filed Petition for Fiancé Visa October 2011
  • Approved case forward to Sydney Consulate February 2012 (with the wrong email address- caused a lot of stress trying fix)
  • Packet 3 sent to Consulate April 11 2012
  • Interview date sent back on April 18 2012 (according to them. I had to email to find out, which I got a reply to on April 26)
  • Interview scheduled for May 15 2012
  • Interview on May 15 2012: VISA APPROVED
  • Visa arrived in hand May 21 2012
  • Hopeful wedding date: July 7
  • Married July 7
  • Filed for AOS several days later
  • April 29, 2013: Immigration requested additional evidence (my medical)

OP is married. Spousal visa interviews are scheduled by the NVC based on available dates given to them by the Consulate. A "packet 3" would not be sent in this case.
