USCIS Notification Mistake

hi all,

My NOA2 should be right around the corner (December I-130 filer @CSC). Very early this morning I received both an e-mail and text notifying me a case was updated/approved (not mine). When I looked at the receipt number I noticed it is VERY similar to mine except two numbers are in reverse spots. You can all imagine my frustration when I reviewed this at 3AM then realized it was not my case. I went to USCIS website and looked up my case status and it is still in Initial Review.

I also thought of the petitioner not being notified correctly too.

And will they confuse my notification with somebody else's contact information?

Any ideas how they confused my e-mail/cell number with somebody else's case??

Its an automated system. They punch the stuff in and then the system does the rest. Easy mistake if someone punches it in wrong. There haven't been many but a few others have posted about getting approval notices when it wasn't their case that was approved.

In any case you might want to call USCIS and notify them of getting someone elses approval notice.

Your I-129f was approved in 5 days from your NOA1 date.

Your interview took 67 days from your I-129F NOA1 date.

AOS was approved in 2 months and 8 days without interview.

ROC was approved in 3 months and 2 days without interview.

pretend that you don't know anything and speak to the local uscis that your case had been approved and nvc didn't get anything . lol

01/26/12 - NOA1 received and processing at Vermont.

06/28/12 - NOA2 announced on status check.

06/29/12 - NVC received case learned on 07/2/12.

06/30/12 - Hard copy NOA2 received.

07/09/12 - NVC Casefile Number and IIN Issued.

07/16/12 - Receive and Sent DS-3032 via email.

07/17/12 - Mailed DS-3032 via mail, AOS bill received via email, paid online, Optin email sent.

07/18/12 - Optin accepted and new case number, AOS marked paid, emailed AOS packet.

07/24/12 - Assigned as Agent, IV Fee bill received via email, paid online.

07/25/12 - IV Fee marked paid, emailed IV packet.

07/31/12 - Emailed GZO Supplemental Packet 3.

08/02/12 - Case completed and commenced final review.

08/03/12 - Shipped all copies of forms/letters/documents to my wife - arriving on 8/9/12.

08/06/12 - Case completed final review.

08/09/12 - Appointment letter received via email interview date set 9/6/12.

08/14/12 - Medical exam done.

08/15/12 - Medical exam results all normal.

09/06/12 - Submitted required documents at the embassy and interview set next day at 0730.

05/16/13 - Arrived at GUZ and impromptu notice on the front it was closed.

02/27/15 - GC in production from email notification.

03/02/15 - Received NOA2 with approval dated 02/25/15.

**Update**

On May 3, 2012, we mailed you a notice that we have approved this I130 IMMIGRANT PETITION FOR RELATIVE, FIANCE(E), OR ORPHAN. Please follow any instructions on the notice. If you move before you receive the notice, call customer service at 1-800-375-5283.

For approved applications/petitions, post-decision activity may include USCIS sending notification of the approved application/petition to the National Visa Center or the Department of State. For denied applications/petitions, post-decision activity may include the processing of an appeal and/or motions to reopen or reconsider and revocations

I was approved the next day and did NOT receive the e-mail nor text notification (unless they are sent tonight).

We going to the NVC next so it doesn't matter anymore lol.

I guess it is better to check the USCIS website for case status.
