Hello Everyone, We are at the NVC level. I need help in the aforementioned topic. My USC wife lost her International passport and the original copy our Marriage Certificate, would that stand as a threat on the day of my interview at the Embassy? I trust I will get helpful comments on here. Thanking you all in advance.

You sure need your marriage certificate for your interview if they have it already have it in the file u should prepared to ask you for original u never know what the embassy would ask u for any documents to submit. Do u have another certified copy? if not u need to get a certified copy to be with u. about the passport if she is not gonna visit u again then she doesnt need it. if she plans to visit u any time before u go to the U.S then she needs to get new passport.

a copy of the bio page is to be sent during NVC intake

and the marriage certificate must be sent to NVC as part of the civil docs with the DS-230.

Sometimes my language usage seems confusing - please feel free to 'read it twice', just in case !

To get a certified copy of your marriage certificate you must go to the Federal Marriage Registry in Ikoyi Lagos. You do have to pay for that copy and it may take a day or 2 to get. My husband was very insistant and received his the same day he asked for it. Your wife can apply for a new passport with her name before her marriage to you because she'd need that certified copy to mail in with the passport.

If you have already been approved through the USCIS then they already should have the copy that you sent them, they will send it it to the NVC along with all your other docs. When my husband went to his interview they had the copy that the USCIS sent them. You won't need it at the interview.
