problem with what?

this story is about a women who was charged with child endangerment because of causing harm to her child...

I don't care about the law in this case.. the woman caused harm to her child and should be punished...

Are you having problems READING? She was CHARGED with "child endangerment" She was charged with a CRIME. What is your problem? You want her charged with ANOTHER crime? A DIIFERENT crime? The crime of "Burning a child with suntanning lamps while the child is under age 14"??

We already have a law!

It seems like what you want is happening, she is being CHARGED with a crime for HARMING a child. Who is against that?

you are not getting my point at all. in this story a child was hurt and the person responsible should be punished.. I am not commenting on government and laws..

my replies in this thread are partially because of the quote below, you made it seem like the parent in this case didn't do anything wrong. yes, a parent has the right to make choices for their child but that ends when they cause harm to their children..

I would not do either, but that is just me. I do not expect the government to send agents with guns to put people in prison because they have a different opinion than I.

And who disagreed with that? My comment is that we do not need a LAW for "tanning beds" and a law for the 22,345,768 other things parents can do that may hurt their children. If they harm a child through intent or negligence we have laws for that already!

what I am saying is I would not want my wife to have an abortion, because WE are pro-life and would raise a child we created as best we could...NOR would I take a child in a tanning booth because it is STUPID...BUT we do not need laws to tell other people to do what I would do. I do not decide such things for other people, and should not. If a persons actions harm another person, they should be punished.

Sad thing is that when the mother takes the child/fetus/embro to an abortion clinic....then no charges? I rather get a few burns than a doctor chopping me in pieces!

What should a woman going into an abortion clinic be charged for, exactly? I have a feeling I'm going to regret asking this question, but I'd really like to know.

No, it is a good question and my point exactly. I am not in favor of abotion for myself or my wife, and neither is she, but a criminal charge indicates ossible time in prison and I do not think people should go to prison for disagreeing with me about abortion or making that decision.

The problem is the same people that defend the fetus, then abandon the fetus when it is born and say it is not their problem. George Carlin did an excellent piece on this. Google George Carlin Abortion. Comedy? Not really.

Being pro CHOICE means you may choose NOT to have an abortion.

I've seen George Carlin's stand on this issue, and it's great.

I simply can't wrap my mind around people who want to take a choice away from someone. Would I ever have an abortion? Probably not. However, who am I (or who is ANYONE) to take that choice away from another woman in other circumstances? People often confuse pro-choice for pro-abortion. I don't think there's anyone on the planet who is pro-abortion, there are simply people who think it NEEDS to be a legal option for women. If it isn't, then it gets done illegally. And doing it illegally usually means doing it unsafely.

Don't agree with abortion? Great. Good for you. Don't have one, then.

This whole fabricated correlation between this tanning story and abortion is ridiculous. And I hate that I'm responding to it, but I couldn't help myself.

It's amusing really. There are some legit gripes from the 'pro-life' crowd against the 'pro-choice' crowd. There are some women who have multiple abortions instead of using other forms of contraception. While it might be her 'choice' to do so, there's something there to be argued about it perhaps being the wrong idea to do. Of course would you really want someone like that to raise a child anyway?

I'm pro abortion to be honest these days. Abort all kids. It's the best chance they have in this world we are leaving to them.... That and today's kids are annoying as ** because the parents would rather be their friends than their parents... Complete lack of discipline.

There will always be people who 'abuse' a system. Those people can't and shouldn't be able to dictate whether or not the system continues to exist for other people who will use it only when necessary. That's the fact of it all ... it needs to be an option.

Me either. Imagine people want to tell me I cannot own an assault rifle. or what looks like an assault rifle! Who would imagine? And if my wife chooses NOT to abort her child there are people that do not want her to have the CHOICE to carry a concealed handgun to protect them. Who would think?

And when the child she chose not to abort is old enough for school, some people do not want her to have the CHOICE of what school her child attends and where her tax money goes to support the child's education. They think she should be FORCED to support a public school with her money even if she sends her child elsewhere

But I am glad people like you agree with me that pro-CHOICE is really the only way! Even if it is not something we choose for ourselves, we have to defend OUR rights!

I guess we should suspend laws that state that children under 14 should not be allowed to drive a car, work as chimney sweeps or become prostitutes. FREEEEEDOM!!!!!!

I think we have adequate laws to protect children already and clearly the woman in this case has been CHARGED WITH A CRIME, what more do we need to do? You want her charged with a different crime?

Exactly. Like there are criminals that abuse the right to own assault rifles. They should not be able to dictate your choice. YOU GO Coconuts!

See, I'm pretty anti-gun, but I wouldn't dare for a second think that my opinion should make guns illegal. I would never tell someone THEY should not own one. It doesn't make sense. I don't like them, so I don't own one. Simple as that.
