I think you should disclose to the doctor your full medical history. On DS-230 part II there is a question asking if the beneficiary has a Communicable disease of public health significance, but hepatitis B is not listed by the CDC as communicable disease of public health significance.

Immigration law requires that all individuals applying for permanent U.S. residency have been vaccinated against hepatitis B, but non-immigrant visa applicants are not required to comply with the vaccination requirements, but must you must have the vaccine when you will apply for AOS.

if they asked you about it. tell'em the truth. they'd find out about it anyway.

Just be honest and tell them the truth, and bring of all your medical history. This is a direct link to the government website concerning communicable diseases of public health significance that would cause an applicant to fail a medical examination or be inadmissible http://www.cdc.gov/immigrantrefugeehealth/exams/medical-examination-faqs.html#5

"Trust in the LORD with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways acknowledge him, and he will direct your paths." (Proverbs 3, 5-6)

Why do you say there is no screening? The medical exam includes blood and urine tests. Being that HBV is highly contagious more so than HIV and just as deadly, I would think they would look into this in your blood tests. They offer the HBV vaccine. Get it. It is a series of 3 shots, and you could get the last 2 before you start your AOS in the states. I don't know how they will react to you being a reactive carrier, but you can't hide this from them and shouldn't. Be honest if you want success no matter the delays.

This is good advice to follow as well except for the DS-230 form part. This form does not apply to Manila, Philippines K-1 applicants.

I don't know if this is Consulate Specific or not but, in Argentina, your medical DOES NOT include a urine test; and the blood test is only a VDRL test, which is the syphilis test. That is all you get! There used to be an HIV test, but it's been dropped off the medical requirements procedure.

St. Lukes in Manila indicates urine and blood tests on their website. Perhaps, the blood test is only for Syphilis as it is in Argentina. The website doesn't make that too clear. However, I haven't gone through the screening yet. Maybe, someone that has gone through St. Luke's can give some clarity here.

Hi, can you please let me know the outcome of your interview if you were issued your K1 visa despite being hepatitis B positive. I am also in same situation and about to go for interview. Please share your experience with me . Thanks
