Some countries there is a lot of red tape. For example, in Ukraine you need first transfer all documents to appistille format, BC, Passport, Divorce... Bring them to American Consulate in Kiev for approval, then bring to Ukraine foreign ministry in Kiev for approval of the US approval... then bring to fiancee local city to file for cirtificate. Unless your fiancee is pregnant and showing, there is a 30 day waiting period before you can marry. This is now 2 round trips to Ukraine and all my vacation time for the year. Or do the K1, save my vacation time, marry in USA, and later have planned formal ceremony in Ukraine without all the running around..... If something drastic happens with the petition or interview I would however convert to marriage in Ukraine for the second round... starting with appistille and consulate reviews soon after rejection of petition or interview. God forbid i have to take this route!!! We very miss each other and want to be together soon. I also have son without mother and we very want all be together sooner rather than later...

Excellent question, here is my answer and perhaps can be critiqued:

"because HIM, alongst with 5 of his 6 siblings, have lived continously in the USA for 26 years, thus we feel that we have the necessary family and friend support that we need in the USA"

Yes?

Wait, Son is already in the USA but not the Mother?

Yes. Tell them why YOU want to get married in the USA and not the fiance's home country.

For US, and only for us...

"We do not really care where we get married, there is no useful advantage to us in using a CR-1 visa, Alla does not intend to work or travel internationally immediately so we are not concerned about the time it takes for adjustment of status. The K-1 processes more quickly and we wanted to get Pasha (our youngest) into school when it started. The CR-1 would require him moving during the school year."

We discussed both types and that was our reasoning. Had we been asked (we were not) that would have been the answer.

$100 bribe fixes all that. :P

But you could use it as a reason

I think he means he has a son and has no mother for his son, the fiancee will be the "mother" to his child...perhaps his previous wife died or abandoned the family

OR

the child could have been born here and is a US citizen. Sometimes women get pregnant before they get married. I have no idea how, but it seems to happen.

Yes, i am the father with full physical and legal custody. Havent heard from or seen mother for going on 3 years now. My boy is now 6. Prior to that she was on supervised visits at 1 or 2 hours per week... that is inbetween at least the times when she wasn't cursing out the supervision staff and being removed from their supervision services.... and then filing motions against me for contempt for not allowing her time to see the child (as if it was my fault she cursed out the staff and they called the police on her, reported her to dss, and lost supervision services from the center for life)...

Sorry about all that.

I thought your Fiance was the Mother.

Regarding your story, it's people like your Ex in your past (and mine) that makes us appreciate the new Angels in our life.

Wait, the old country sounds like Nigeria too

Where do you think Nigeria learned about that? The FSU is the corruption capital of the world.

That's a shame. Such a loss for her. Best of luck to you and your fiancee, Ukrainian women make such good mothers.

But seriously, what do you Guys think of my answer.

Your answer is fine. That is what it is, for YOU. They do not ask stuff like that in Ukraine because despite corruption at every level it is considered a very "low fraud" country. The scammers in Ukraine are really men trying to get cash from stupid Americans and never show up to apply for a visa.

It is a much more likely question in Nigeria.
