You do not book anything they send you a letter with date and time that they have available. Some are short times some are long times of notice for the appointment.

You receive a letter with place, date, and time to attend your appointment. There are some offices that are not strict about an individual walking in for an earlier appointment; however, the beneficiary should not miss the appointment and attend afterward without rescheduling for a date change. It's advised to keep the appointment as this obviously results delays of EAD cards and FBI investigations that require biographic information.
