@Fiance and all--

OP: Very interesting question (What are countries in rank for immigration?) Could be answered in many ways, but

1. Here is one interesting data summary:

https://www.cia.gov/library/publications/the-world-factbook/rankorder/2112rank.html

which ranks 220 countries by net migration rate. Net migration is defined on this link as the number of immigrants entering country minus the number of emigrants leaving a particular country per 1,000 persons. Qatar is highest on the list (+40.6 net migrating individuals per 1000 persons) and the United States is ranked 26th (+3.6 net migration)

2. As to why comparatively more or less persons would immigrate to or emigrate from any particular country (or remain in one's native country) the reasons are numerous encompassing (among other factors) a wide variety of political, social, historical reasons as well as personal circumstances, all of which are constantly changing. Examination of these various influencing factors, whether by fact or opinion, can lead to many interesting discussions.

Thank you, Fiance, for presenting an interesting question and engendering some interesting food for thought!

--RK and Inday

That's an interesting link, but it leaves out one important fact: the US has a legal cap on how many immigrants are allowed in each year. I wonder how many would apply if the caps were removed and the gates were completely opened.

May your visa journey be smooth and speedy.

Not really. I found absolutely no racism whatsover in this thread, she is just throwing words she deems "bad" without even understanding what they mean, sort of like pulling out the Nazi card when you feel like being all righteous.

Agreed. Another important factor, it makes no distinction between permanent immigrants and temporary workers. I would imagine Qatar and the rest of the Gulf states having a large number of temporary workers, but rather few permanent immigrants.

Sure, you can criticize America, but why bother to do it on a forum dedicated to immigrating TO America? It just doesn't make sense. There have got to be other forums out there for foreigners adjusting to or trying to adjust to life in the US.

So we can do it, but not where we want to?

I don't know what the OP's intention was, but, personally, I find it pretty insulting to hear Americans implying:

a) that their country is the best in the world,

b) that we are somewhat blessed to move over there.

Frankly, those points seem to imply there is more than feelings that's spurring us on.

Hi!

Just an intrigue question, will everyone in this world immigrate to USA? well looks like it, I guess will come the day that the wait will be like for ever to get this K1.

What are the other countrys in the rank for imigration? Do you guys know it? I just wondered since never expected so many ppl doing it.

Thank you

Ah, don't you have a bit of a captive audience? By that I mean, all of the people on this site, "VisaJourney.com - Your US Immigration Community," are going through (or have gone through) the process of getting their loved one(s), or family member(s) into the United States. B-) I suspect that, as a result, the perceived perspective is a bit skewed. A person could get a similar skewed response if they asked a similar question on other immigration sites dedicated to Australian, Canadian, Swiss, Swedish, Maltese, etc. immigration issues.

YMMV.

I never once implied that it's the best country in the world. I probably did imply that you ARE blessed to move over here -- and I'll actually say that outright. Considering millions of people die every year crossing a border to get here for a better life and then get treated like outright sh!t, get deported and then try again?? And they don't complain once?? But we have people like you who are blessed to know someone who can get you here legally, but you choose to b!tch and complain about how there's no health care, how there's no maternity leave, how americans do this and that, etc etc.... You really are lucky, but you choose to ignore that. Obviously your country didn't work out financially -- will America work out better? That's yet to be seen, but I am willing to bet it will. As I said, 5000 times before, no one is forcing you to come here.

Health insurance sucks, paid vacations are non existant, ditto for maternity leaves, guns everywhere and super costly education. No, I don't love the US (America is a continent, not a country), but, alas, sometimes you have to make some sacrifices in life.

Non-existent, really?

America is not America as it used to be some years ago. After just returning from living in the Philippines for many years I found the changing times is many want to migrate to South Korea. South Koreans are the "new age" Americans in the Philippines. Many women want to marry Koreans from what I witnessed.... Time will tell in Asia..........

Even Mexicans are leaving the US due to lack of "the American Dream"

Good luck to all in their Journey. Are wait starts in 15 days as this is when I am filing.... If my LS gets me her information sooooon ;) ... :)

It may not be racism, but it definitely is prejudice/hate/intolerance. Call it what you want. You like to paint with a broad brush, so be it. If I said that people from Romania are cons, and that they shouldn't be trusted, that would be wrong. Coz just because Romania has been stereotyped in many different ways shouldn't make the whole country a bad country or their entire population untrustworthy. The US, like many countries, is a great country, and that is my opinion. I like the opportunity it has provided me and millions of other naturalized citizens.

If you're not already here, Gigli, then we look forward to having you! If you ARE already here then we are thankful to have you.

You are obviously a bright person, so I'm sure you understood what the OP was saying. And it was even clarified by a later poster, that the OP was just expressing that it feels like everybody in the world is in line ahead of him/her in finishing this process.

There was nothing controversial in the post or in the thread until people started being negative towards this country. It was a simple, even humorous, post to start the thread; yet so many people, like yourself, inferred so much more than was being said. This thread was moved in this negative direction by those complaining about this country.

You should just apologize and move on now.

I disagree. It's exactly this attitude, Americans thinking that America is the "new world" make most people hate America and/or Americans. I believe its simply called love and when two people are in love they plan their life together and decide which one is the best for them. I know hundreds of people who married American citizens and came to the US and they miss their motherland terribly. They spend fortunes going back and forth to visit their parents, siblings and loved ones.

I also would like to set it straight, that not all US Citizens are native Americans. Most US citizens here you see, are marrying from Pakistan, India, Turkey, Africa or whatever are actually just marrying their natives.

At one time being an American was an exception. It is no more. Not after bombing of all those lands in the name of democracy.

I would stop thinking that being in America was so hot. It is not!

Mostly everyone here is just looking for a soul-mate and hoping that they found the right one.

There are some just doing it maybe to get away from their poverty stricken countries. But think about it, if you were British they would do it to go to GB, or German they'd do it to go to Germany and it goes on. This should not make you think that America is hot, This makes me think that the lives and cultures in other countries and how they must cope with life having just enough to get by or not having anything at all. This is not an excuse for their lies but this gives us something to think about and try to pick the right person.

I also read many posts here where American men kept choosing foreign women to marry. Some admitted that they filed, once, twice, three times. All for fiancees from other countries. If the first two didn't work out, why did they do it again third time?

Doesn't this make you wonder why American men turn elsewhere?

I am curious.

Speaking for myself and my observations only, American men turn elsewhere because American women are socialized to castrate the "traditional" male role (the provider, the decision maker, etc.) here in the USA. American women are more manly in their ways than foreign women, and screw and bedhop and cheat with ease as their male counterparts (a very general, myopic observation of course from a man who spent his life mostly in San Francisco Bay Area). I may sound bitter, but from what I've seen, the Latin American and East Asian women are so much more 'feminine' in the traditional way.

American women also do this. I am sure there are many completely different reasons for why American men and American women do this. Your post sounds less like you are curious and more like you have an opinion. Care to share it?

Thing is, my country workes better for me in other aspects than financially (and financially the biggest issue was that he was on a tourist visa, hence I was the sole bread winner and I didn't own my flat back then). Health care, far less violence, maternity leaves, free education, a job in the academia that I enjoy, the fact that I have my own flat - those are aspects that matter to me more than a couple of extra bucks. I don't feel blessed at all, quite the contrary, I am bracing myself for a huge depression. Going from having a job and my own place to jobless and paying rent isn't a blessing.

And seriously, there is no comparaison between me and the average illegal immigrant, I am not coming from a poor family/uneducated background.
