I had my interview at 7am in Queens Field Office today. It was a pretty quick process. It seems like USCIS employs a good number of staff for interviewing candidates. As far as I remember, I saw > 10 different interviewers calling for interviews. I waited around 20-25 mins. Interviewer was nice and polite. She spent some time on my international travels in past. She checked the each date and counted those. Rest part was as usual: going over civic, English tests, and yes/no questions. She told me at the end that I passed (although she mistakenly stamped "Denied" on my app :)) ).

She asked me choose to wait my oath letter (for an hour) or wait it to be mail. I preferred to stay. My oath is scheduled for Oct 12.

I am pretty glad that I got my oath sooner than I expected since we have been waiting for immigrant visa for my wife for > 2 year. Her OPT is about to be finished. We finally get a chance to upgrade her application and get her an interview.

Congrats.... NY is on a roll now. I was looking at the May time line and discovered that most of the other States have either complete or soon to take their oath. The deadline to register to vote for the Presidential elections in NY is really October 12; however there is a narrow window that allows you to register after that date up to October 26 if you became a USC on Oct 12, but no later than Oct 26. I found that information off the website http://www.elections.ny.gov/VotingDeadlines.html ... and it reads..............

"You may register at your local board of elections or any state agency participating in the National Voter Registration Act, on any business day throughout the year but, to be eligible to vote in the November General Election, your application must be received no later than October 12th except, if you have been honorably discharged from the military or have become a naturalized citizen since October 12th, you may register in person at the board of elections up until October 26th."

Hey guys i took my oath on august 31 and got my passport too but when ever i check my online status at uscis website its says

testing and interview ? this makes me really worried and upset ! what do u guys think why they havent updated my case on the website ?

what should i do for this ? kindly reply, im upset because of this.

It seems that the online statuses are not updated frequently. I had my interview 11 days ago and my online status still says "Testing and Interview." On a side note, I see that a couple of New Yorkers are still awaiting their interview letters... Unless of course the applicants have not been updating their individual timelines. I, on the other hand, am awaiting my oath letter and wondering how long it is going to take before I receive it. Some people get their oath letters soon after they had their interviews; here, 11 days have passed and.... nothing.

I had my interview at 7am in Queens Field Office today. It was a pretty quick process. It seems like USCIS employs a good number of staff for interviewing candidates. As far as I remember, I saw > 10 different interviewers calling for interviews. I waited around 20-25 mins. Interviewer was nice and polite. She spent some time on my international travels in past. She checked the each date and counted those. Rest part was as usual: going over civic, English tests, and yes/no questions. She told me at the end that I passed (although she mistakenly stamped "Denied" on my app :)) ).

She asked me choose to wait my oath letter (for an hour) or wait it to be mail. I preferred to stay. My oath is scheduled for Oct 12.

I am pretty glad that I got my oath sooner than I expected since we have been waiting for immigrant visa for my wife for > 2 year. Her OPT is about to be finished. We finally get a chance to upgrade her application and get her an interview.

I wonder which Queens Field office? The one in Long Island City? It appears there are a few of them.

Congratulations on passing your interview. I was not given the option to wait for my oath letter... I was not even handed the "congratulation" letter by the IO. She just put it on the table, got up and walked towards the door. I basically had to figure out the end of interview "procedure": get up, take the letter, follow her, etc. myself... craziness! (The IO behaved like she desired to be fired).

can we apply for a US passport there on the area of the oath taking,..?

No (or not in Seattle, at least), but they give you the relevant form you can fill out. From the travel.state.gov website:

"You must submit Form DS-11 in person at an Acceptance Facility or Passport Agency."

Use the links to find your nearest one. You need to bring a passport photo and your check-book with you, as well as your naturalization certificate (which you have to send with your form).

NB: When I applied I had to get a new passport photo, as the one I had to hand from my naturalization submission was actually too dark and wasn't up to spec. I guess the USCIS doesn't really require pictures as they take their own.

Guys just a question to those who had their oath taking,

can we apply for a US passport there on the area of the oath taking,..?
