N-400 FILERS - MAY 2012

Good morning everyone,

I have never participated, but have been following you for some time...Prompted by everyone’s calls to USCIS re NYC scheduling and “coincidental” notices, I have tried to get some kind of an answer from USCIS this am. For the record some stats for me: based on 3 year marriage rule, application was sent on May 21, check cashed on May 29, biometrics completed on 07.08.12, put in line on 07.24.12 and since then nothing.

The first service rep, I spoke to was a really nice lady, but knowing she does not have access to much of the info, I requested to be connected to second tier rep. Unfortunately, he was nothing like his colleague. The bottom line is that NYC is processing application since January 2, and my application is still in their valid time frame. For it to be considered out of the normal timeframe for this office, a 143 BUSINESS DAYS need to pass in order for them to do anything. His was unwilling to open a service request, and only suggestion was to make an InfoPass.

So wise people of VisaJourney any suggestions for me. Should I and rest of us NYC people just waited it out, or there is anything for us to do?

For the record our dates are quite similar (filing date May 25th, biometrics 07/06/12, put in line 07/10/12)

It would seem we're both a fraction later than the two people who got their notification yesterday so for now it seems waiting a a short while as realistically it could (and hopefully will) be sometime in the next two weeks.

Hopefully that is the case...among my group of friends, I have a case, that I was trailing exactly 3 weeks behind to date from application, biometrics, etc...albeit he fell into April applications. This friend has received his interview notice at this point 4-5 weeks, and nothing for me. He is rescheduling it due to his trip,and with his rescheduling, I feel he will have interview date before me.

But hopefully in next 2 weeks will give us notifications..which still puts interviews a month later.

Did you mention its over 30 days ? after that they should open a service request.... you its been 63 days. You should ask the first person you talk to do it for you, that's who did it for me because it was over a month

I know for me waiting was insane, but hopefully since you've been waiting longer than me you should be getting it soon. although I was placed in line July 11.

NYCers, any of you received a yellow letter asking you to bring a driver's license to the interview? It seems like I am the only one who did.

Haven't receive a yellow letter...... Is that suppose to come before interview appointment letter?

I dont know where that would take place. But I read the website and you have let them know first over the phone what it is you need help with In case they can help you over the phone.

I have tried again to request to open a service request, but given that I am in the "normal processing times" and that they are processing cases since January 2, an agent was not able to open one.

Wow I guess it really depends who you get. I open one back on August 30, 9 weeks after placed in line. and she said if you haven't receive a response to that service call back. Another rep said to call back every two Weeks and I did. I'm sorry to hear you haven't had luck. But don't get discourage neither did I at first I must of call 5 times after the 30 days. Hope you get your appointment soon. Best of luck to you.

:goofy: My husband had his interview/testing this morning in Atlanta and PASSED! We get to go back at 2:00 for the Oath Ceremony and then he will be done. We thank EVERYONE for all the help and support along the way. [i can't get our line highlighted in red for some reason. Can someone fix this for me? Thanks!] :goofy: .
