hey i'm a june filer i just wanna ask people here in may with local office NY, NY.

i was looking at the timeline but all of NY,NY people are still waiting for the interview right ?

well my question is any of you guys from NY, NY got the the email/text for being placed in line scheduling for interview ? coz i have been since 27th of july but still waiting for the next step which is scheduled interview.

We almost got the exactly same timeline! I am also in new york city and my FP were scheduled on 7/17 just like you. I was placed in line on July/30th

Biometrics appoitment on July 9, July 11, I was placed in line to be schedule for an Interview.

I checked and it says that NYC office takes 6.5 months for the whole process, while others take 5 months only.

So i quess we are still whithin time.

I am from NY and yes we are behind the other service centers. On july 3 i was placed in line for interview, and today I received email/text that says I am now scheduled for an interview.

wow, I was placed in line for interview scheduling on July 2nd, but prority-day-wise I am a few days behind you... so it is coming! i saw in the April discussion that people from NYC are now being interviewed. Yey!

It is very unfortunate that I received my interview date just two days after I leave the country to see my family. My interview date is on Aug 30 and I leave on Aug 27. I called the USCIS Customer Service yesterday to reschedule the interview but they say it is not guaranteed and they might deny my application, if my request for reshedule not approved. They also say I should a have compelling reason such as hospitalization of a family member, college graduation ceremony, military deployment, death of a family member. I guess they don't care if you haven't seen your family over a year. Has anyone try to reschedule their interview?

My wife and I are getting a divorce, she won't lend me her Certificate of Naturalization or her US Passport. She did email me a copy in color.

I'm getting my Citizenship through her: I'm going to the interview on the 27th.

Does anyone foresee any problems this may bring???

My facts: I no longer live in the address I had registered, I moved out of the house: my wife and I sold it already.

This is what I found on USCIS web site and might help others. I will write a letter to the office requesting a reschedule. I hope that will help.

16. What if I cannot go to my scheduled interview?

It is very important not to miss your interview. If you have to miss your interview,

you should write the office where your interview is to be conducted as soon as

possible and ask to have your interview rescheduled. Rescheduling an interview may

add several months to the naturalization process, so make all attempts to attend your

original interview date.

If you miss your scheduled interview without notifying USCIS, we will

“administratively close” your case. If we close your case because you missed your

interview, we will notify you at your last address of record. Unless you contact us to

schedule a new interview within 1 year after we close your case, we will deny your

application.

It is very unfortunate that I received my interview date just two days after I leave the country to see my family. My interview date is on Aug 30 and I leave on Aug 27. I called the USCIS Customer Service yesterday to reschedule the interview but they say it is not guaranteed and they might deny my application, if my request for reshedule not approved. They also say I should a have compelling reason such as hospitalization of a family member, college graduation ceremony, military deployment, death of a family member. I guess they don't care if you haven't seen your family over a year. Has anyone try to reschedule their interview?

To be honest with you, I'd reschedule my flight (or postpone the trip altogether) in order to avoid making things more complicated for myself and save myself the frustration and the headache. Plus, you may be given an Oath appointment letter right there on the spot, or even be given an option to attend the ceremony on the same day you are interviewed - if one is taking place that day.

In a perfect world, that would be good but I already bought my tickets and trying to find an alternative way. I don't get to see my family very often so I would chose my family over this :)
