That must be an old guide... That OF-230 is referring to the DS-230. Still don't know what the OF/DS-169 is. You don't need it though as I didn't.

I never did so.

Than talk to her parents what she wants? Its not your fault that you can't bring her to states right now.Tell them she is giving you mental pressure and thats why you lost your job.Wife's duty is to give mental support to her husband not give him stress.

Here is what i see on the guide here on VJ for CR1

Pre-Interview Forms / Items: 1. Completed and signed OF-169.

2. Completed and signed Of-230 Part 1 and 2 forms.

3. I-864 Affidavit of Support Form along with past 3 year U.S tax returns (or transcripts) and any other financial documents required.

4. A copy of intending immigrants biographic page of passport(s) including expiration date.

5. Original or certified "long" birth certificate. *

6. Original adoption decree. (if applicable)

7. Marriage certificate. (if applicable)

8. Divorce decree(s) or death certificate(s) (if applicable)

9. Police certificate(s) **

10. Court and prison records.(if applicable)

11. Custody records. (if applicable)

12. Military records (if applicable)

Did a little digging on VJ - it appears the OF-169 is a consulate or embassy-specific form that tells you what you need to bring with you (all the documents, etc). Not all consulates or embassies have it. So...if you get one of those - sign it and bring it, with everything it tells you to bring.

Both DS 230 ( Part I and II ) and this OF/DS 169 are getting me confused. with my IV package i sent to them my DS 230 part I signed and part II unsigned. In the Interview letter, the embassy states all the documents they received from me with a Code which gives the status of that documents.

The below is the status of both Ds 230 Part I and II

1 - IMMIGRANT VISA APPLICATION PART 1 Y

1 - IMMIGRANT VISA APPLICATION PART 2 Y

2 - PASSPORT Y

EMBASSY IN HAITI

Y = The required document has been received.

Now, is it necessary to bring that form again to the embassy?

If it's a form you sent in, and if they say they need it for the interview, bring it (bring your copy - you did make copies right?). That way, if they lost something - you can give it to them.

Ok so sending AOS package doesn't mean anything right now? I should send that? hmmm will have to think about this. But as was mentioned here the most important thing right now is resolving our issues and saving our marriage.

I need to start looking for work too but I am in no shape mentally to do that.

Yeah, sending the AOS package now means absolutely nothing to your responsibilities of that form. It only starts its effect once your wife is in the US, after activating her visa. Until then, like I said, it means diddly squat. I think you should definitely send the AOS package asap, and get that started at least if things look up. Just hold off on the IV track of things. After you send the AOS package (if you do, which I recommend), then you'll have up to a year before NVC closes your case. If you're still trying to manage things in a year from now (which I hope doesn't take that long... ), then you simply need to shoot NVC an email to keep your case open, which they'll do so for another year. Rinse and repeat if necessary.

Right now, if you're financially stable with savings and such, then I'd suggest just take a day or two to relax. Then you'll need to concern yourself with your wife and what's going to happen.

Do you know WHY your wife doesn't want to talk to you? Is it cause she doesn't want to, at all, or because she's uncomfortable about it? I know I'm better talking about things through email and text messages than face-to-face. Not sure if this is the case for her.

I did. I sent it the same day it showed as Paid.... Hubby called and they said to disregard the message. These crazy folks.. :bonk:

I'm guessing that checklist was in response to them reviewing your package then. Have you called to see if it was approved? I bet it was due to the checklist :) Which is a false one by the way. They were right in saying to ignore it. Wait until I get to NVC laughing.gif No more false checklists which scare the ####### out of people.

Just called DOS and they said Montreal got my package  .Hoping they will be ready before i come....

Awesome news! good.gif

When should i start calling the NVC or DOS to ask if my interview has been scheduled? Is one better then the other to call?

Since your case was just closed, I suggest starting tomorrow. And call them every day afterwards (their hours are on the first post). No one is better than the other to call. They should both have it in their systems once your interview date is assigned. But I have seen cases here where one didn't have the date, while the other did. So that's why I ALWAYS suggest calling both of them. Doesn't hurt no0pb.gif

No, it's not necessary to bring it again as they have it. Is it still a good idea to bring a copy you made? Yes, certainly. I brought with me copies of all submitted packages (I-130, AOS, IV) as well as the NOA1 and NOA2. None of it was needed, but I felt better knowing I had everything that they could possibly ask for.

OK i see but my problem is that we didn t make any copy of the package just keep all the form that i filled online and email my wife them to print from a computer. Only the DS 230 where i had to sign with a pen i gave to her in november on her second trip. The issue is she didn t make any copy of it, so i forgot the date that was put on last november.

I just got my email from the NVC saying the case is complete. Now we have to wait for his interview date.

congrats

OK, so I hate that it has come to this. After waiting for so long, I never wanted this to happen.

So I have my AOS Package sitting in my drafts all ready to send. The invoice shows as paid. But I am reluctant to send it now. I am trying to think what exactly it would mean submitting the Affidavit of Support. Right now as things stand, I am waiting for my wife to determine what exactly she wants. If she wants to reconcile our differences or if we should just head towards divorce. I think the wisest course of action right now would be to put on hold the whole visa process which I can do easily by not mailing the AOS package and not paying the IV fee. But at the same time, if things were to get better between us, this will add to the delay for her to come here.

This is a very screwed up time right now. I wish things were simpler. All I wanted was someone to love who would at least care a little about my feelings.

I personal think that if you are in that bad of a place right now put the process on hold and try to work on your relationship. You are at a spot now where if you decide to stay together it wont take you that long to finish.

MCM, i'm sorry to hear its this bad now... I think you should put everything on hold as well... hate to say it, but why put a burden of AOS on yourself when there is a possibility that things won't work out... its a responsibility that you'll have to carry... put things on hold and work out your problems, that seems to be number 1 priority... if she's saying she doesnt love you anymore, is this some kind of mental manipulation she's playing or is she really serious? either way, doesn't sound good... i don't see how the stress of being far apart would cause her to say hurtful things to u, seems like its a gift that you're finding out now, but all this really breaks my heart... its never ok to hurt the person that you're married to...

When people marry, they don't know what's going to happen in the future. Things happen. You can never guarantee anything in a marriage. Should you work things out before resorting to divorce, yes. But if one spouse or both no longer have feelings for one another, then there's not much one can do. Or, if one spouse ABUSES the other, specifically physically, it would be much better if the abused spouse got out of that relationship.

Well I really tried for the last 6 months to get things working, I tried to go visit and resolve our differences but we have a big issue communicating. As much as I try we can't resolve our differences because she refuses to talk. She says the most hurtful things to me and from all that it looks like now she says that she will never love me, she will never have respect for me in her heart, and many other things. I would just wish for us to talk about our issues and work towards resolving them but she doesn't want to even talk to me. She never considered herself married, for her it was when we are living together we will be married. I did not like a few of the things she did which I don't expect any married person to do. I tried so much but last 2 months I have had more than enough. I lost my job because of this, I am losing my mind also. I would still want to reconcile but I can only do that if she is also willing.

Talk it out but if she doesn't shape up, like seriously change her bad ways, i suggest you be prepared to end it... i dont like divorce either, but its not all black and white with divorce like Neela is talking about... things happen that are grounds for divorce, its a sad truth... u wouldnt divorce over a little something, but for something like one person not wanting to be with the other anymore, i dont see another way but divorce... 2 people have to be willing to work things out in order to actually work things out... i hope it turns out ok for u in the end...

I'm like this too, but i think its because its easier for me to communicate in english and i speak with my hubby in a foreign language and i cant think of the right things to say correctly so i revert to writing things out when we have an issue first, after i have clearly made my points, then i can handle talking cuz i know he knows all that i feel at that point... i've had a situation where i had to do some confronting, it wasn't pretty but i did it and i think we're stronger now, but like i said before, it takes 2 to tango...

btw, Saylin, I hope that you got the message I sent you (F)

OK i see but my problem is that we didn t make any copy of the package just keep all the form that i filled online and email my wife them to print from a computer. Only the DS 230 where i had to sign with a pen i gave to her in november on her second trip. The issue is she didn t make any copy of it, so i forgot the date that was put on last november.

Even if you don't have copies of the signed/dated forms, you can still bring a completed copy with you. Better than nothing.

[...]

Keep in mind, the responsibilities of the AOS aren't put into effect until the foreign spouse has their visa and does POE. Until then, it's just a form. So he can safely send it now without worry.
