Hope someone can help. I just called NVC; they said they received my case from USCIS on 28th. I ask for the case number. She said it's not entered into system yet so she can’t give me the case number. I asked her can I email you the ds 3032, she said not yet, I have to wait till they enter it into the system. I though they will assign case number as soon as they scan it then in couple weeks they will enter the case manually into the system to generate IV & AOS. Please advice is there anything I can do to avoid delays. Thanks in advance for your help!

At this point all you do is wait, you cant pay any of the fees without the case number or invoice id number

Call them everyday till you get the case number, then you can send them the DS-3032. Good luck

I will be writing the I-864 Cover Letter as well as Letter of Employment and for an unfiled tax year.

in the template example at VJ, they have this for the Subject:

Subject: I-864 Affidavit of Support for my spouse <Beneficiary’s name as in the passport> NVC Case# LLLNNNNNNNNNN

I-130 Receipt Notice# XXX-NN-NNN-NNNNN

QUESTION: Shouldn't the "I-130 Receipt Notice#" be instead "I-797 Receipt Notice #"?

It's been taking 4+ weeks for NVC to assign a case number. The best thing you can do to avoid delays once you DO have a case number is to start getting everything for your AOS and IV packages ready to go. That way, as soon as the bills have been invoiced and appear as paid in the payment portal, you can submit them. If you still have some things to put together for those, it might help occupy your time while you wait. I know it's not easy.

Until you have a case number, you can't e-mail or submit anything to NVC.

Where are you seeing the need for the I-130 receipt notice? The only number you need in your subject line is your case number.

I've never seen that before and didn't use my USCIS receipt number in any of my correspondence with NVC. Interesting... I also followed Saylin's example of her cover letter for both the I-864 and the IV packages. Neither included the USCIS receipt number. For me, when in doubt, follow Saylin's example!

HI All,

I just wanted to ask you all a question. My hubby's interview is Monday and I'm just sending him all the docs he's gonna need for the interview. I have his interview letter from NVC, photos, chat/email/phone logs, and 2011 tax transcript. In addition, he will bring with him his passport, medical results, and his passport photos. Are we missing anything? I'm just re-reading the interview letter and on the fifth page, it says:

'Please note that even though the applicant may have provided the NVC with a copy of a document, the applicant is still required to bring the original document to the visa interview."

Does this mean to bring in another set of original docs to the interview?!! What have you all done and/or recommend?

I just received the checklist for our DS-230 part 1. Is this a false one?

Also, my husband received a checklist for our daughter's I-864W:

Part 3 Concluding Provision

[x] The intending immigrant has not correctly filled out his/her own name in the blank, "I, _[daughter's name]__________________________________ certify…".

But my husband swears he filled it out that way. He's on queue at NVC now.
