Hey Saylin, not sure if you'll know this, but we got our visa in the mail with the sealed envelope! it talks about the i-751 in there but in a language is a bit confusing. it talks about conditional residence since we have only celebrated our one year anniversary this april. so it says 'as a result you and your spouse must file a joint petition (form i-751) with the CIS to get the conditional basis of your status removed. (this is where i am lost with the language) the petition must be filed within the 90 days period immediately preceding the second anniversary of the date you were granted conditional permanent residence status"

so does that mean, if we were given it on may 17 of 2012, we will have to file this no later than february of 2014?

i hope this is right. please let me know! thanks for all your help through this, couldn't have done it without you and every other member on this amazing site!

Residence status (conditional or permanent) is granted upon your entry into the US. It is different from the visa you have right now. You have to file for removal of conditions within the 3-month timeframe before your conditional GC expires (which is the same as the second anniversary of when you were granted conditional permanent status = POE)

Hi everyone! Hope all is well! I have been missing from the Filers board as you can tell, but it's because I've been a bit busy with work. Plus, as I had mentioned before, we were stalling a bit with some docs., but now we are back in full action!

I wanted to ask you all a few questions....are there no specific instructions for the DS-230 like for the other forms? I can't seem to find any.

Also, on the DS-230, 31a and 31b, I have looked over previous posts on Visa Journey but am not 100% sure...in terms of "person(s) who will accompany you to the US"....I don't put myself, right? I only put any intending immigrants (which in our case would be 0)? I am just confused because since I live abroad, I will be going to the US with my hubby, but I am already a USC :-)

And lastly, I also checked previous visajourney posts but found no answer....do you know if there are any DS-230 forms that can be saved? In ours, we have to retype everything every time we open it.

Thanks!

Hi folks,

I received an email from the NVC titled Checklist Cover Letter, stating that our immigration application (DS 230) is missing, though we sent it last friday.

Is it because we sent the I 864 package before the DS 230's and that they haven't received (reviewed) the IV package yet?

Thanks for any input.

Yes, if it's asking for the entire IV package (and not something specific), it's highly likely a false checklist. This was generated after they reviewed (and accepted) your AOS package. Call up NVC to confirm your AOS acceptance.

Any example of cover letter for AOS please? Thanks! :)

Here's two: http://www.visajourney.com/wiki/index.php/How_to_bring_your_foreign_spouse_to_live_in_the_US#Attachment_2_.E2.80.93_I-864_.28Affidavit_Of_Support.29_Cover_Letter and http://www.visajourney.com/wiki/index.php/I-864_Cover_letter .

For ROC (Removal of Conditions), it goes like this. (I'm going to use my own example). I did my POE on May 12th, 2011. Once I got my green card, the expiration date is May 12, 2013 (two years later from POE). So, I have to file ROC within 90 days before my green card's expiration, which would be February 11th, 2013. So, for me, I have between February 11th, 2013 to May 11th, 2013 (one day before it expires), to send my ROC package.

Once POE happens in your case, I can tell you when the earliest you can file for ROC yes.gif

Thanks Saylin.Sorry i head out to Toronto after my interview.I was on road & arrived to toronto at 5.30pm.Sorry for make you wait.I sat on the same seat you mentioned in your mini consulate map. :D .Shell was racing with me :P We had so much fun ,we find another 2 Vj members and we talked about VJ.I had a nightmere at 3.am that everyone is at the consulate by now and im the 15th person so i get up and leave for consulate very early. It was raining so we were waiting by the consulate gate in the car(hubby parked his car right by the consulate gate)So i din't have to stand up since 4.50 am :)

Hehe, awesome that you sat in the same seat!!

Glad you were at least sitting inside a warm car instead of standing up that entire time!

Thanks!

No, there are no form instructions for the DS-230 like with the I-130 or I-864. Everything you need to know will be on NVC's website. If you have a specific question, someone here should be able to help you :)

For that question, "accompany" means "immigrate", so as a US citizen, no, your name wouldn't be put there as you're not receiving a visa to immigrate to the US. This question refers to spouses and children who are also getting a visa and immigrating with the beneficiary. Even though you're living abroad, it still doesn't apply to you as you're a USC and don't require a visa to move to the US.

You should look into getting a PDF reader. There's a few: Adobe Reader, Adobe Acrobat, Foxit, CutePDF, etc etc. This will help you save the document.

I went to the medical office and everything is fine with my result, i passed the exam, ye

Yay, glad everything is fine! Interview up next for you :)

Thank you guys! So when do you think I should start calling to see if the interview has been scheduled?? Haha.

Today!!!! yes.gif

Yes, the name on the visa will be the same as the green card.

If you've been filing the entire time with her last name as yours, then everything should come in as her married name.
