I don't have money transfer but i have my hubby debit card from the states, that is what he use to get me money for the baby. I have pictures, letters from boot camp, life insurance policy (mine and his), my son passport, his crba and birth certificate. That's all i got.

For Jamaica, i do not see in the reviews were the CO asking to show money transfert receipt unlike Haiti.

My coworker went recently and they asked him for western union receipts and he had 3 interviews. When i saw that i panicked, but i helped him through the process but he wasn't able to relay what happened, soooooo..... I'm back @ square one in panic mode.

Did he finally get the visa?

Yes he did, after the 3rd time. But he had initially gone to the interview without any evidence of proof of relationship.

Nope, they just gave him a green paper and circle the proof of relationship and told him what to bring. Then the 2nd time he had to go to digicel for phone records. Then they gave it to him, but his visa is only valid for 3months and not the 6 months, so he has to do POE by June 14, 2012

please to read post #1 and post #2, click all the links, prepare to spend about 4 hours ingesting.

Then (and only then) read it all again, start making copious notes.

Practice filling out the I-864 and DS-230 - and when you have some questions - hey - post them here in this thread...

I just Call DOS and was informed that the Counsulate received my case May 9th, i do not know if i have to be happy cause Friday May 11th and yesterday i called they told me the embassy had not received it yet :wacko:

Call every day for 5 more days, record the answers each time. Then let us know the results? [seriously]

I checked with my wife and she did indeed have a tracking number for the Immigrant Visa packet she sent from Vietnam. I put the tracking number into USPS and it said the following: "Your item has been processed through a sort facility in JFK, VIETNAM at 1:10 pm on April 25, 2012." Is the JFK facility in the US (I imagine so given the name and that it's an airport)? If so it would mean that the packet was delivered to the sort facility a day after it was sent on April 24 and there are no other status updates besides that.

So does anyone know if our packet is just sitting in customs or being sent somewhere or anything else?

wow - that's really loopy. I say call USPS and ask for a data refresh, and ask the human just exactly where is the package today?

Sometimes though, these inbound packages, tracking info stops at the border of that country.

:ot: Does anybody know for how long is the I-551 Stamp on the Passport valid for? (I-551 is the stamp you get on your passport when you POE and it is the equivalent to a temporary Green Card while you get the actual GC in the mail)

2012/05/18 -IV bill invoiced & paid( IV Package sent)

2012/05/30 - Case Complete at NVC

2012/06/11- Interview date received(Packet 4 receive)

Interview Date 2012/07/10 Approve on 2012/07/16

Medical/US Consulate/POE:

2012/07/09 - Medical Report

2012/07/10 - Interview - Asked to bring a document(police report in maiden name)

2012/07/16 - Approved!!!

2012/08/24 - Visa received!!!

2012/08/29 - POE (Atlanta Airport)!!!

2012/09/10 - received Welcome Letter and Receipt Notice !!!

2012/09/15- received Green Card !!!

Patience.....i wish i could have it

you need to volunteer in the evening at a farming co-op just outide of town. by the time you get home every evening, you'll be too sore and exhausted to focus on anything else but sleep.

Sometimes my language usage seems confusing - please feel free to 'read it twice', just in case !
