UUUUUGH...selected for jury duty here in Winnipeg August 30th. Bought an insured plane ticket for POE for June 9th. Apparently that's not good enough - they need my itinerary for my trip home (even though it's insured in case anything goes wrong), and my home address in Virginia. And they can't guarantee I won't be able to get off. Good luck getting me back here though! Sigh.

I checked with my wife and she did indeed have a tracking number for the Immigrant Visa packet she sent from Vietnam. I put the tracking number into USPS and it said the following: "Your item has been processed through a sort facility in JFK, VIETNAM at 1:10 pm on April 25, 2012." Is the JFK facility in the US (I imagine so given the name and that it's an airport)? If so it would mean that the packet was delivered to the sort facility a day after it was sent on April 24 and there are no other status updates besides that.

So does anyone know if our packet is just sitting in customs or being sent somewhere or anything else?

Does anybody know for how long is the I-551 Stamp on the Passport valid for? (I-551 is the stamp you get on your passport when you POE and it is the equivalent to a temporary Green Card while you get the actual GC in the mail)

Its valid for a year as far as I have seen, I need it to be valid for that long as well, as i plan to POE and return to my country and then fully move over in Dec

One year.

Although, hopefully, the green card will arrive before it expires.

I do that every single day lol. Mock interview,. I read sevral reviews here and answer the questions that the CO asked to the applicants, i already read all the reviews from Haiti members and i also read from DR, JAmaica, Ghana... etc... Trying to understand the CO tricks

I understand that some of You may be patience either because you recemtly have been with your loved one but for me. Last time i was with my wife Was November 5th, i miss her so much. She can not come to see me although she wants that. She is carrying my first child. These reasons are valid enough for me to be impatient. I am more than impatient

I know, I am one of them that have seen there love ones recently so its not as bad for me. Don't worry we are very close to interview. Every time i think about the interview my stomach turns, im dreading it i suck @ them and never get to answer how i want as i freeze.

Wow, you can tell me what you learn about Jamaica? i have looked at them but they make me freak out. i have live 5 pages of questions that i have compiled and answered, gonna ask my friend to go over them with me.

Jamaica, Ghana Haiti, DR are apparently the same where the COs tend to ask a lot of questions compare to other countries. You only have to be confident,firm and bring as much evidence as you can. For haiti, they insist on western Union receipt and intimate pics. If you are able to show them a lot of transfert receipts and intimate pics, you will get your visa

I don't have money transfer but i have my hubby debit card from the states, that is what he use to get me money for the baby. I have pictures, letters from boot camp, life insurance policy (mine and his), my son passport, his crba and birth certificate. That's all i got.
