Syrian Police Certificate - CR1

Greetings everyone,

I have been watching the forum for a while now, and I have a question. My USC husband has filed a I-130 for me (CR1), and it should be approved in a few weeks. We are now preparing for the next steps.

I will need to get a French and a Syrian police certificate. The process to get a French police certificate is pretty easy.

However, does anyone know how to get a Syrian police certificate from an embassy abroad (Paris specifically)? What documents do I need to provide in order to get a PC? To provide a little background, I am both French and Syrian, but I do not hold a Syrian passport, and I am not planning to go to Syria anytime soon (ie not before the situation gets better, which sadly probably won't happen before the final approval of the visa). Also, does anyone know the validity of the Syrian PC and how long it takes to get one?

Thank you very much!

PS: Moderators, I wasn't sure if I had to post the topic in the CR1 forum or in the regional forum. Please be indulgent if I misposted it and do not hesitate to move it to the right place :-)

I do not know how you would get that from the French embassy, but I do have the name of a man in Syria, who can help you. He was the translator for our marriage. (my husband speaks english, but the courts do not) Then, he knew exactly what papers we needed, and he translated them into english for us as well. He is a certified translator. If you would like, I can give you his name and phone number (when I find it at home, I am at work). Again, he is in Syria, so I don't know how reliable it would be if you needed him to mail the originals to you, and you do have to pay him. Let me know....

Thank you both for your answer.

Karalynn, thank you for your offer, but for now, I think I'm first going to try to get the documents at the Syrian embassy in Paris. You probably know how bureaucratic Syria is... and I want to avoid having to send/receive documents to/from Syria (I have done it in the past, once a simple letter took 7 months to arrive in Syria...)
