Hi!

I just got an update on the USCIS regarding my I-485 petition:

On April 27, 2012, we transferred this case I485 APPLICATION TO REGISTER PERMANENT RESIDENCE OR TO ADJUST STATUS to another office for processing and sent you a notice explaining this action. Please follow any instructions provided on the notice. We will notify you by mail when a decision is made. If you move while this case is pending, please use our Change of Address online tool to update your case with your new address or call our customer service center at 1-800-375-5283.

What does this mean? Good or bad? Why was my case transferred to another office.. I had sent the package to the Chicago Lock Box facility.

Have you done your biometrics?

where did you mail the packages to initially?

Provided that your timeline is not filled out, it is difficult to know why.It might have been transferred to Chicago where it should have headed in the first place. If you have done your biometrics then transferred cases without interview usually means you are approved and should be getting a notice soon as stated.

03/28/2012----->AOE/EAD/AP filed

04/04/2012----->NOA1 received

04/27/2012----->Biometrics appointment

Many of us are receiving that email. Our cases were transferred to CSC and a dreaded wait for our GC. In my case it's my son's GC that I'm awaiting. He received his EAD so the wait begins for the GC. That's another 5 months according to the processing timeline. All the best

05/05/2009 - Received NOA2. Welcome letter for Permanent Residency. I-130 and I-485 approved 04/30/2009
05/08/2009 - Touched. I-485 approval letter sent
05/11/2009 - GC received in the mail. Expires 2019
05/11/2009 - Applied to remove restrictions on my SS Card
05/18/2009 - Received unrestricted SS card
10/13/2009 - My darling husband of 2 yrs 5 months 3 weeks 3 days passed away :(

Thank you guys.. I sent in the package to Chicago on March 28, 2012.. My biometrics is scheduled for May 2, 2012. Isn't CSC faster.. especially if there is no interview required.. I've heard both stories.. some say faster.. some say slower.. is a local office faster? Just waiting for that letter now.. so I can be sure which office will handle my case..

Thanks again.. and good luck to you all.. the wait can be frustrating but with the right support system at home it becomes easier..
