Hi everyone,

I'm new to the site so I apologize if I ask something that has already been answered. I am an U.S. citizen. My spouse is a New Zealand citizen. April of last year she entered the country through the VWP. We married and then filed the i-485 and I-130. Everything was slow but going well. We reached the point in which we were schedule for the interview. Unfortunately her mother died in November. We decided that she needed to go and handle the mother's affairs and everything. We had not filed an Advance Parole form so we were aware of the possibility that the application would be denied.

Long story a tad shorter (after writing to the local offices), we received a notice stating that the i-130 had been approved. That was in the middle of March. In the middle April we received a letter stating that the i-485 had been denied. My wife is still currently in New Zealand. I was told she shouldn't reenter through the VWP, and that a visa would process itself through the I-130. I called the National Visa Center and they stated that USCIS had not sent our I-130 case to NVC. Then I called USCIS and was told that we needed to complete a I-824 form so that the file can be transferred to the embassy in New Zealand. I was just wondering if anyone has had to do anything similar? Any information, tips, tricks? Thanks in advance.
