My wife cannot find her birth certificate anywhere and we have the interview on Tuesday. Do they always ask for the birth certificate? We have her naturalization certificate and passport will this suffice?

08 Feb 2012, Day 0 Sent I-130, I-485, I-765, I-131 and G-1145

09 Feb 2012, Day 1 Package received at Chicago Lockbox

14 Feb 2012, Day 6 Email of acceptance, application being sent to NBC

15 Feb 2012, Day 7 $1070 check cashed.

16 Feb 2012, Day 8 $420 cheque cashed

27 Feb 2012, Day 19 Bio appointment letter received

02 Mar 2012, Day 22 RFE received

03 Mar 2012, Day 23 RFE returned with info

07 Mar 2012, Day 27 Acknowledgement of RFE returned - now waiting for their response

20 Mar 2012, Day 40 Did Biometrics - previously rejected for walk in bio @ Elizabeth, NJ and Manhattan

30 Mar 2012, Day 50 online status changed to inform me of interview on Mayis day 49

02 Apr 2012, Day 53 EAD & AP in production

What do you mean by naturalization certificate if you are only now going for AOS?

Usually means the OP is the beneficiary who is filing for AOS and the wife is the USC.

Bring a copy of the birth certificate and originals of the naturalization + passport. And explain to IO that she lost it. In the mean time research how to get a replacement and how long it takes.They may RFE and they may not. But you want to be prepared in case you have respond to one. Our IO didn't ask to see everything that the interview notice says to bring.

Did you send her Birth certificate when you did your AOS package? I vaguely remember I did and was asked at our interview and told the interviewer to thumb through our packet to find it. No problems. Good luck.

If you sent a copy with the package they may not ask for it....We had a huge folder of stuff and she did not ask for anything beyond other evidence of marriage...photos, bills etc.

None-the-less, I hope your wife finds it, you can never be to sure with these things.

01/18/2012: Biometric appt and receipt received

Appointment set for 02/8/2012

01/27/2012: RFE email received

02/01/2012: Hard copy of RFE notice received

02/14/2012: RFE info sent back to USCIS

02/22/2012: Received email RFE received case continues to process at NBC

03/09/2012: Receive email with interview notice

04/12/2012: Interview in Baltimore City 9:00am

Case has to be reviewed WAITING on a decision now....

04/18/2012: APPROVED EMAIL RECEIVED AMEN!!!!!

04/23/2012: Approval/ welcome letter received in mail

04/23/2012: Card production ordered email received

04/24/2012: Card mailed email received

04/27/2012: Received email USPS picked up mail containing card notice

04/27/2012: GREEN CARD IN HAND!!!!! :)

They didn't ask for ours, just our passports since they had copies in our packet. I'd get a new one ordered right away regardless!
