OK, good, good! You are in the first good season for rebloom then! So don't think you did something wrong last year necessarily. Maybe.. but more likely no matter what you did they wouldn't have bloomed. :)

Yayy ! Well apparently I am supposed to let the leaves start to get shriveled before I water... so will try that this winter. They are putting on a lot of growth this year.

I've never bought any on purpose, but I have had them naturally. They are good predators.

We got them over the weekend and hung them up. They should "hatch" in a couple of weeks. We should see how it goes. We got ladybugs also but haven't put them out yet.

Over the weekend, we moved the hydrangeas to a shadier spot, which they were seeming to need, and put sun parasols where the hydrangeas were.

WOM - my tickweed have closed up, with only a few flowers remaining. Any ideas? Over-watering? Or do they do that? I noticed the red cosmos we have do that, so wondering if it's the natural course for the tickweed as well. Or if I'm overwatering? Noticed a lot of sowbugs in the beds, and got some bug killer yesterday, so if it's the sowbugs, hopefully, they will bounce back quickly.

Thanks for any info! I'm a novice at gardening, and you guys seem to have a lot of info!

Well... are you dead-heading the old blooms ? This will keep it producing more buds. Also, if the plants are established they should only need watering once a week to every 10 days in sunny hot weather... so make sure not to over-water.

No! Didn't think to deadhead the old blooms! Duh! Thank you!!

If it has gotten kind of long and straggly after blooming out, you can also prune it back a bit - this will encourage more new growth and new blooms. There is lots of summer left, so I think you can get it performing nicely again before fall.

Nice! Leave the canes! Some dens only bloom off the old canes. My orchids are almost done for the season. They started pretty early though in October.

As you can see, one of them grew new stems off the old canes. But this one with the dead-looking canes is spurting out new growth from the core of the plant - nothing coming out of the canes. I guess they are different species of den. They are really very interesting plants with such unique personalities.

Yes! Personally, I find them pretty interesting myself.

I have to figure out what to do about all the plants i collected while Ammar was gone. I got a lot for free.. but I have limited space. Sigh.
