Just found this guy (or gal) hanging around... it's some kind of Sphinx Moth. I don't see them every year; just when we've had a lot of rain. They're very large moths - like almost 4" from head to tail. They're so big that when they fly around the garden visiting flowers, they almost look like hummingbirds.

Potted amaryllis, blooming in July ohmy.png It already bloomed in January so this is the rebloom. I rest it under the shade next to the patio most of the time along with a couple of others in pots... and they started sending up leaves last month.... but this one decided to bust a move with a couple of blooms:

well the growing season is done for the year here in New Hampshire. I hate winter cray5ol.gif

Well... my window sills are 24-7-365 biggrin.png Do you have any windows with a southern or eastern or western exposure ?

Here is my redneck greenhouse. I wanted a little more shelter on the covered back porch to over-winter plants, so I enclosed the two open sides with plastic vinyl. Actually I used clear shower curtain liners biggrin.pngbiggrin.pngbiggrin.png - they are cheap and easy to hang with grommets already in them. With the roof and the southern exposure and the plastic, the porch now stays about 6 to 15 degrees warmer than the outside temp. This is sufficient for plants to survive out there all winter, as it rarely dips below 30 and even then only for a few hours.

And here is a pot of leftover pink hyacinths from last year - I bought it at half price at Walmart and it bloomed out, then stayed outside in the shade all summer (even in the 100+ degree heat.) It got watered maybe once or twice a week. I didn't bother planting it in the flower bed because usually these cool-weather bulbs do not last down here after than one blooming season. But apparently it has survived and the intermitten cool weather we've had has sparked something deep in its psyche, because it thinks it's time to grow:
