My black iris' are about to bloom any day now, my yellow and purple ones too. Everything is late blooming this spring because it has been cold and rainy, very little sun. My tulips didn't even bloom until the first week in May, very late, can't wait for the lilies this year.. This will be my third summer in this home, when I moved in the yard was a mess, over grown with perennials and crabgrass, the people who used to live here planted hundreds of bulbs and plants willy nilly all over the place, it looked like a frikken jungle. It has taken me all this time to dig up quite a bit of plants and flowers, there was just too much. I transplanted some to other parts of the yard, gave away hundreds of bulbs to people, and threw away a lot. We dug up the front lawn, put down new loam and planted new grass a few weeks ago. This year the yard will look so much better, although I can see more will have to be taken up in the fall. I will post pics if this rain ever ends, my gardenia leaves are all turning yellow from all the rain. cray5ol.gif

If I could get outside during a dry moment I would---it's been really soggy lately. And cold. I did see a deer though, about 5 blocks from my house on Sunday. There's woods by the library, he must have came out of there.

I swear I didn't think they were any of your relatives rofl.gif

But if you could let them know how great the yard is a few blocks over, I would appreciate it

We are starting to dry out after all the storms and flooding.

This is some kind of extremely drought-hardy tradescantia. It's an heirloom plant; you don't see them much at the nursery. But many people here try to find it - usually by getting a cutting from an older established garden. It's almost indestructible from heat or drought, and it even blooms a tiny purple flower.
