LOL! The ostrich ferns are from my grandmother's house via my aunt. So I consider them heirlooms. Still didn't impress him. He'll be even less impressed when he figures out they will be 5+ feet tall.

None of my posts have ever been helpful. Be forewarned.

I didn't plant any "fall crops" this year but am still getting lots of bell peppers, banana peppers, eggplant and a coupla tomatoes. As well as the lemons starting to ripen.......... and lots of herbs ongoing like basil, sage, thyme, rosemary, etc

It seems at least 1 billion acorns have dropped, mostly on the driveway

So exciting for you guys to be traveling so soon, and best of all going home together  Mahmoud made the trip to the U.S. by himself and it was his first time ever flying... he came through just fine but I always wished I could have flown with him. Anyway soon the real fun begins for you two :D Enjoy your last few days there before back to Cali....

My husband too, it will be a first time for International travel so it will be interesting to see what he notices and experiences.

Your pics just added to my excitement of HOME!!! I would even enjoy seeing all the acorns on the drive :star:

I just got my new fresh spices and some new ones for tagines I never heard of from his mom. I also got a way smaller couscous steamer for two people as the one I have here is too big and cooks way to much just for the two of us. Hmmm can't really think of much lol as you seem to have pretty much everything already. My husband asked for a new jellaba and shoes (yellow) lol. I always wanted one of those large dishes to prepare couscous in, but it's to heavy to bring on board, instead I opted for a large clay flower pot bottom lid, but it works great for couscous.

Ohhh I loved flying home with Mohammed, but his tears were sad as he looked below as we flew over Casablanca.

I am ashamed to admit I never watched my MIL make her delicious light cous cous....so he is gonna miss that.

I think we can get everything in the U.S. with spices so I am not taking anything that might or might not be questioned.

WOM here my husbands family are blessed with so many fruit trees and the soil is rich rich rich...

Beautiful fig, inluvn ! I would name him Notorious F.I.G. :D

I bet your husband loves your garden... (well, who wouldn't !) It is full of things he knows very well.

Already the first of December but we've had mostly mild weather in San Antonio this fall - got down to around 40 once or twice, but mostly days in the 70s, nights in the 50s-60s. So the garden is still chugging away. Here are today's pickins... we are still getting tomatoes to turn red, plus plenty of bell peppers, eggplants and banana peppers, lots and lots of lemons, zillions of lil tangerines and (not shown) pomegranates. Herbs, too.

looks great...I see the bell peppers, eggplants and tomatoes can go on a BBQ with some olive oil next to some kind of meat. Yummy.

When it did go down under 40 was there damage? Hope not. My banana plants suffer the seldom times we get a cold night or two but that is about it.

Yes he loves the garden, when we got home the two young Persimmon trees (twigs) gave many fruit surprising for the size ... it was a blessing.

This is an epilaeliocattleya - eplc. "Jackie Bright" - that I got a few months ago. It was a bargain bin find, sold bare-root and kind of dried out-looking. I set it up in some chunky material in a well-drained pot and put it in a sunny spot (filtered) in a south-facing bay window. And now we have the first bloom stalk:

This is what the blooms will look like:

The orchids have become a full-blown addiction. I will be adding shelves soon :)

African violets enjoy the light in this area, too.
