I have a question about interviewing at the US Embassy in Manila. My wife is scheduled for an interview next week but she is only age 20. I was wondering, does she need her parents to be with her for the interview? Thank you for all of your help in advance. God bless all!!

No they don't. On the Embassy, it is American Law not philippine law. The embassy guards would not let her parents in anyways.

They might need to be present at the CFO seminar. Monreal was 19 when she did her seminar and they didn't request her parents to be with her. But i have heard in some cases they have.

Did they request an "Consent to Marry" signed by her parent(s) at the CFO?

When my wife was at the CFO, they sent a woman home and told her to come back with her mother. She wasn't from Luzon either, and was expecting to fly to the USA the next day. The CFO can be easy one day and a total pain the next. Doesn't seem to be any rhyme or reason to it. Why not let her mother accompany her there, then you're sure not to run into the problem and your fiancée can enjoy some time with her mother. The entire process is stressful enough, its helpful if they have a little moral support on the ground with them. At a minimum I'd have that signed letter from the parents stating its OK for her to get married.

I agree with you and I'm starting to get that feeling that we should have her there. I will be there but of course I will be waiting outside... The problem that we have is mom has to spend time on an Island close to Borias Islands and the commute is a couple days.. My fiancee and her mother are going tomorrow to Lucena to get extra Birth Cert's, CEMONAR, new NBI, the "Consent to Marry" form signed at a registrar(Notary), a Postal ID for mom, Birth certificate for mom.. ANd it was a chore to get mom to go this time.. Its really the only time mom can go so trying to do this all now, even though the interview won't be for 3 months yet, hopefully... Might have to rethink this one, any advice???? Anyone know of anyone getting turned down with a signed "Consent to Marry Form" as the CFO requests?
