If the immigrant you are sponsoring has never been to the US on another Visa, they do not have an Alien number. Put None.

For a K-1 visa the A# is the 9 digit number above the beneficiary's name on your NOA2 (I-797C petition approval notice). Use that number to help them find your immigration file. The I-864 is filled out by the USC so if you are natural born you do not have one. I put" N/A" as I believe it is better to let them know that it is not applicable as a natural born US citizen rather than "none"--YMMV.

Good luck,

Dave

Sorry to say but for us the A# was on the NOA2 and no where else. It was not written on the Visa in the passport nor the I-94. It was only on our NOA2 and the USCIS receipt number starts with EAC or WAC this number started with A followed by nine digits and it was right above my wife's name on the NOA2. Maybe some people get the A# on their passport, but we did not. Some CBP people may write the A# on the I-94 or the visa, but for those who do not I think the A# has almost always been printed on the NOA2--maybe not, but it is worth a look.

It is not the receipt number. That indeed is their A#. It starts with A followed by 9 numbers. It is found on the NOA2 approval notice for the I-129F petition(I-797) right above the beneficiary's name. A lot of consulates do not put the A# directly on the visa itself. My husband's K-1 visa did not have his A# printed on it. When a K-1 is needing to find their A#, they should look on their NOA2.

Yes, this. For a K-1 interview, you generally need to use the I-134 and not the I-864 unless your consulate specifically requests you use the I-864, even for a K-1.

Thank you to all who responded to my post. The A# is written on the I-797E Notice of Action and the I-797 Notice of Action right above my fiance's name which was the approval notice for our I-129F Visa Petition. Also part 2 question number 6 on the I-864 pertains to my fiance who is the beneficiary that is not a US citizen. I believe this is the Alien Resgistration number.

Thanks Again,

Ba nana's :)

The information you are stating is correct HOWEVER You should be doing I-134 (as other mentioned for K-1). YOu will still need supporting documents: Tax Transcript, letter of employment, paystubs, bankstatements in GHana for interview.

I-864 doesn't come until Adjustment of Status in the USA.
