Filed for K3 in 07' when it was still allowed in Egypt. Had the embassy interview in 09'. Received the visa, arrived in the US, and did AOS all in 2010. Waiting to Naturalize in 2013. Been married for five years. Met in March 04' so we've known each other 8 years and pretty much been best friends since then. We have our days but for the most part we're still happy together.

We filed DCF in Oct 2008, got approved in Dec 2008. We are now awaiting oath ceremony letter for his naturalization. Hoping to make a trip back to Morocco soon. We are both working and Farid is the boss of me or so he thinks. I just reply Yes Sir when he tells me to focus on him. He has been like this since day 1, he's a riot.

Married August 2002. Filed I-130 in Feb 2003. I started lurking on VJ in late 2006 when our lawyer had no luck in getting our file forwarded to the NVC. A whole lotta junk before and after that but he returned to Algeria and his visa was finally issued in June 2009. He became eligible to natz last wednesday although we won't file until we return from our trip to Algeria in August. Is there some sort of award for the longest visa journey? Well, we're still chugging along two kids and almost ten tears later

Nice to see lots of familiar names! We filed a K-1 from Morocco in 2005. We are coming up on our 7 year wedding anniversary this summer. We have almost 3.5 year old b/g twins and hubby was naturalized a day before their first birthday. We both come back occasionally to check in and read. I have a fellow teacher at my school who married a woman in China over Christmas break. So...I am cheering him on in his visa journey.

Momof1 - your case was definitely among the longest visa journeys I've ever seen here - what a clusterfork.

Kat, Tany and Mithra - I was thinking back of all the folks we've seen come and go and wondering how they are - of course M4E (M4H !) and MBP, Peezey, Um Squeaky, JP, Noura, Angel, Amal, Maggie, Bridget, Liz, Sereia, Nawal, Sara, Mireya, Me4Musa.... the list goes on and on....

And Dawn is missed very much, too.

Last year Adam & I had a VJ getogether dinner at Dimassis in Houston with Jackie & Amal & another Houston VJ couple plus my sister & her hubby came since he had just become a US citizen a week earlier. I'll be planning something in a few months after Adam becomes

a citizen.

So really? You can change your name during Naturalization? Do you have to pay extra? I know it costs a lot to even change your name in this country (well, according to my knowledge about it from reading "The Namesake" )

Yes for real u can request a name change! On the N 400 paper it asks you if you want to change your name & what do u want to change it to. From what I've read is that during the interview USCIS can not grant ur name change that it can only be done during ur oath ceremony as it is granted to you by the Judge. Even my brother in law did a slight name change last year & it was granted during his oath ceremony by the Judge.

And no you don't pay extra for the name change. Still $680 for N400
