can get ssn at ssa office.

Sometimes my language usage seems confusing - please feel free to 'read it twice', just in case !
Ya know, you can find the answer to your question with the advanced search tool, when using a PC? Ditch the handphone, come back later on a PC, and try again.

Don't worry about the GC you will eventually receive it after a month or so. If you opt for SSN to be assign to you automatically and said yes in your ds-230 you will receive it after 3 weeks ( you should receive your ssn in 3 weeks time if not, you can follow it up by phone or you can visit the nearest ss admin.)In my case, I have to go to the nearest Social Security Admin. to personally apply for my SSN because I did not receive mine after a month. I suggest you do the same if you already got your GC and bring identification with you like passport. Good luck :)

Not sure if this is the right forum to ask this question but I landed in US on April 4th.. its 3 weeks and no sign of SSN card or Green Card/Immigrant Card?

Any idea what to do or where to follow up?

Don't worry about the green card. That could take a few months, but since you have the stamp in your passport, you have a temporary green card.

For the SSN, if you ticked off for one to be given to you on the DS-230 and it's been more than 3 weeks, then go to your local SSA office and apply in person. This is exactly what I had to do as my SSN never arrived either.

Mind you, I'm nowhere NEAR close to this stage of the process, but my husband and I talked about this. Isn't it possible to apply online or in a local office with the I-1551 stamp for immigration status and receive a card within 2 weeks?

Yes, that's what I had to do as my SSN card never arrived. After applying in person at my local office in town, I received my card in the mail 10 days later.

We checked yes on the DS-230 for the social to be sent automatically but I became afraid after reading a few posts where it took too long

So we went to Social Security office at day 5 and applied in person---they had his name spelled wrong...gave him 3 first names and no middle name!! So good thing we went and she was able to fix it online
