Thai Hom Mali Rice

I need some feedback from those in the Thai forum, is this a good rice and do you recommend it?

I'm sure this is probably the same type of rice I've eaten on many occasions in Thai restaurants and it's likely the rice I get when I have papaya salad (som tum). I'm traveling, so my favorite basmati rice is not available, however, this Thai Hom Mali Jasmine rice is available. I've researched this rice online, but I'd like to hear from those familiar with it.

Thanks for the feedback.

According to my wife, Hom Mali is considered the best.

Your wife was correct -- the Hom Mali is excellent. It's lite, fluffy, very little chalk, the texture, taste and the fragrance convinced me of its quality.

A roi mak mak!

 Apparently it's somehow inspected and approved by the Thai govt. Whatever that means. I personally wouldn't trust that govt. to inspect anything.

I personally trust very little of what any government does -- maybe they just approve of the quality and taste, I certainly do.

As if a quality product needs any approval by government -- a quality product is a quality product without their self important approval.

I agree. Just kinda cracked me up she threw that little govt. tidbit in there like it means something. I started laughing and got the ugly eye. I left it at that. I learned long ago not to go down that road. I have my opinions about the Thai govt. living there for 3 years, but I keep them to myself in this house. Politically, we are on opposite sides of Thai politics. Makes no difference since I can't vote there.

But hey she's pretty damn awesome, so what do I care? Cheers!!

You're a smart guy, pick your battles wisely. You can't vote and it's her you'll need to keep happy. Yes, some folks just love their government, regardless of how crummy and oppressive it is.
